Phil And Kirstie: Kent, Relocation, Relocation

This week Phil is back visiting Allison Green and Mark Thomas. Two years ago they made a discovery: having the right postcode, designer fittings and posh furnishings was all very well, but with the arrival of baby Amelie it was clear that city flats and small children do not mix, and it was time for a massive rethink.

So the couple sold their swanky London flat to buy a new life in the fresh air of the Kent coast. Plus they wanted a crash pad in London for Mark to live in during the week. With a £700,000 total budget Kirstie and Phil were taking them on the biggest and most expensive property search of their lives, but it wasn't easy! Their house needed to be fabulous and have a massive garden, great sized kitchen and something to get their well-honed developer juices flowing. No pressure then!

Finally a seven-bedroom former Mayor's residence came into view, so they grabbed it with both hands. Two years down the line, Phil is back by the sea to discover how they've been getting on. Did they ever get that London pad? Does Allison miss the Big Smoke? Is there enough of a challenge to keep Mark interested in the house? And most importantly... have these property profiteers made some cash as well as having a fab family home?

  1. We are in the same dilemma, we would like to move outside of London in the fresh air but enjoy the London lifestyle. How do we can we get Kirsty & Phil's help? We are also looking at buying a property abroad. I have my heart set on the French alps as we are both keen skiers but my Fiance has fallen in love with Canada.

  2. My partner and I are in our late 20's and have a 17 month old daughter, we currently live in Bristol in an area called kingswood and moved here just over 3 years ago from Bournemouth where we were students. We moved away from there as the jobs market was poor and poorly paid and the houses were highly priced and mainly flats. We don't want to live in our current area as we want our daughter to be raised in a nicer area and need to get her registered with a school and find the right area in enough time so she doesn't miss out. We also will need to love the area as we will need to stay there for some time what with our daughter being in school for 11yrs at primary school and we're also planning for one other child. We need some help as we only know Bristol, Bournemouth and the areas we grew up in(malvern&isle of wight) and we just don;t know what to do cos to stay in Bristol we would want to live in Clifton/Redland/Stoke Bishop Village or areas like this with a good school, walking and parks, quite, no problem youths and we just can not afford these areas as I have been a stay at home mum for nearly 17months now, not for the skae of trying to find decent part time work. Please someone help. Cheers B
