  1. My sister, who is expecting a baby, has sold and is and is looking in two alternative areas NW and SW near the M25, near one or other set of parents. She is concerned that she may end up having the baby while living with my parents (the stop-gap option) or possibly in temporary accommodation, which obviously is not going to be ideal for anyone...

  2. I wonder if you could help my friend Gerald Monteagle sell his house? He and his wife Anne live in a Jane Austen type house in Stradbally, Co. Waterford. Stradbally is a picturesque coastal village in Southern Ireland in easy reach of England being only an hour and a bit journey from Gatwick & Cork Airport. It would make the ideal second or first home for anyone who wants to relocate to a more tranquil life. The 3,500sq. ft five-bedroom house is early 19th century and is surrounded by an acre of garden. Its village centre position gives it easy access to churches, schools and supermarket. A Separate coaching yard with access from road comprises several stone built outbuildings. Offers in region of 785,000 euros. I have pix and further details which will email at once if you give address. Judy Brittain

  3. Hello Phil and Kirsty, I am 'an oldie' at the moment in time being supported by our Leader Gordon!! currently living in the West Country and am looking to buy a property in Eire. I have seen a lot (both the good, the bad and the downright ugly!. This property will be essentially a holiday let for the time being (but for my use for time to time) A two bedroomed property with a piece of land within easy reach of a village and within circa 100 miles of Dublin (for the buying of the papers and a pint or two) but ultimately with a view to retirement. I have two uncumbered properties so will be able to finance the purchase - wondered if you guys fancied a trip 'across the sea to Ireland'. Am going across the water at the end of this month on a 'viewing trip' and whilst I have done my homework, I would appreciate any input. Many thanks , Lilly

  4. Hi, we are a couple with three children; 6 year old twin boys and a 17 month old girl, three cats and three sofas (they say three's a magic number!). We currently live on the east London/Essex borders but want to move away for a quieter, more relaxed lifestyle. We would need to be within a reasonable commute of London for work and family and friends. Most of all we want really good schools (primary and secondary) a friendly community with young families and aspirations. We need 4 bedrooms a couple of receptions and a decent garden. We have a budget of 275,000 to possibly 300,000 depending on what we achieve here. Cheers!

  5. Hi. We could really use some help!! We are a couple looking to buy our first property. We currently live in a large terraced house in Gosforth, Newcastle, but after renting for a while we are now keen to buy. Ideally we'd like to move to a village within easy commutable distance of Newcastle. We will have approximately ?250,000 to spend (this could possibly be stretched a little). We agree that we'd like something with 3 bedrooms, a good sized garden with space to grow our own veg and possibly get a couple of chickens, but I only like old properties with character while Phil thinks they're impractical and would prefer a new build. It would be such a relief to have somebody to help guide us through buying our first home and hopefully avoid killing each other in the process!!

  7. Hi my husband and myself with 3 children and 2 cats are looking to move within a 5 mile radius of our current village location in Heighington, Darlington. We love all that the village has to offer but require a bigger garden and something with a view, a barn conversion is right up our street and I am willing to live in caravan for how ever long it takes to realise the dream!! I think it is just lack of confidence to have not found our ideal home so far as it would probably mean contacting local people directly! hmm! well thats the theory, your help would be massively appreciated! please help! thank you

  8. Hi, We are looking to buy a family home in the West Midlands with a reasonably big budget. We have sold one house in Solihull and have another in Birmingham but can proceed without selling that one. At the moment David lives in Botswana, coming back once a month or so and Monica and Chelses (16) live here. Schooling important for next 2 years, but right place is more important as David returns home with work at the end of the year. Would love something with potential to add value to whilst it being a nice family home to start with. Hope that does not put you off too much! David & Monica

  11. Hi My husband and I are currently living in Shanghai China but are looking to buy another family home in the Uk for when we return in 2 years time. We already have one house in the UK which is currently being rented out. We are not sure of wether to buy a small second house for long term rental which will became our daughters one day, or wether to buy another family home which we could downsize too when the time was ready. We really need help as we don't know the current market and have been looking on the internet but really haven't seen anything that we really like. If you could help that would be great.

  12. We are looking for a 4 plus bedroom detached house somewhere more rural up to an hours drive away from Walsall, where my husband will have to commute for work. We have 2 young daughters at home, requiring new schools, and 2 older kids both at University who will require space when they are home for holidays. We are keen gardeners who would love an acre or two of land as we grow lots of our fruit and veg currently. Any move for us would be a wrench as we have been in this house for 16 years, and have only moved once before! But... we really feel the move would be good for all of us, whilst still allowing us to keep links with Walsall. We value peace and quiet but need to be near to facilites for children. Can you help?

  15. Hi Kirstie & Phil, My English husband (he emigrated here from Leeds 30 years ago)& I live in Melbourne Australia & are looking to buy a 2b/r flat in London, as close as possible to the centre with a budget of up to 200,000 pounds, but even tho' I'm spending HOURS on the internet & have started compiling a short list, neither of us knows much about the various areas, & while we're prepared to jump on a plane & view the last few we won't have much time to roam around on our own & wondered if you could help us? The plan is to buy a flat that's in good condition that we would furnish & equip to let for 3-6mth executive leases so that in between tenants we can use it ourselves as a London base & maybe even put it on the house swap registries so we can swap it for places elsewhere in the world. We need help with all the English 'rules' like surveys, your conveyancing & exchanging legals, & leasing laws.... We watch your program all the time in Australia & love to see different parts of the country each time, you do a great job with sometimes bloody impossible briefs & very unrealistic clients... hopefully we're not amongst them! Thanks for considering our request. Cheers.

Hi We have just had a baby and are looking to relocate to the countyside to find a bigger property and garden in a village with a friendly community. we would like the house to have lots of character and charm such as original fire places, high ceilings and masses of potential for renovation or further development. 20. We are two ex-students who try to make a start at the Dutch house market (also living in the Netherlands at this moment). Our search however seems more difficult then we thought, we have a decent budget but can't seem to find the right house fitting to our needs (minimum of 3 bedrooms prefered in Purmerend about 20 minutes from Amsterdam). As a big fan of the show (every weekend here on SBS6) i thought i'd give it a go and hope Phil and Kirstie can help us out finding the right place for us. Its a huge step for us moving from our 28m2 student appartment to a first time home its both exciting and scary and quite necesary as the current house is way too small for 2 people to live in (which we have been for the last 2 years - and myself for 5 years).

  24. Hi In 2005 we moved to New Zealand. In December 2010 we are coming back to the UK and wondered whether your show would be interested in helping us relocate to Northumberland. Ideally we shall be looking for a house within an hours commute of Newcastle. We are a very outgoing couple who have two cats to consider as well. There are many reasons for relocating in Northumberland that you can use on the programme, such as family, and being part of a village community to give you a flavour.

  26. Hi, I am looking to get my first home, pretty much anywhere really, I work all over europe as an IT consultant and move wherever there is work, currently Switzerland and previously Belgium but one year into my thirties and finally able to afford a home (I hope) I am looking to have a link with the UK. Originally my intention was to buy a home in Spain, but since the pound has dropped dramaticly against all other currencies I have re-thought and think in the UK is best. Also its good to have some security for other members of my family in a home to go to in the country we come from. Since I travel a lot, and will probably find more work in London in the future I need somewhere commutable to or in London, and somewhere near an airport. However with a budget of around 200K, with a disdain of buying a house on leasehold, no history with any particular area in the UK and very little time to look about its a real struggle I would love some assistance with. So, any help much appreciated. Ross.

  32. Hi Kirsty and Phil, this might be more on the Location, location side... my friend Gxxxx is about to lose her home of 10 years due to her husband divorcing her and selling the family home. she is downsizing from 5 beds to 3 (ideally) and want to stay in the same area, wait for this, muswell hill, close to where she is now (cascade avenue) as she is able to walk to school, to the allotment, gym, lots of friends and so forth. she has a budget which is ok but probably at a stretch in that part of london. she is also fairly disorganised (and probably in denial) and very likely to having to move into rented accommodation and put her furniture in storage, as the house might complete by end of month! can you help her, please? I have been enthusing about the 'miracles' you can achieve! :-) regards anna mangini

Neither of us have ever visited this area of England before - so for us its like the blind leading the blind! We have three children under 8 so this is a huge! move!! Can you help? We are looking to relocate beginning of 2010. Give us a try - at least you then have an excuse to visit oz! yours sincerely Laura and Paul Larkin

  34. My partner and I have been together since school and after almost 12 years (at separate universities, travelling together and then moving to London)I finally popped the question and asked her to marry me (thankfully she said yes)!! We would love to find a place of our own to settle down in. We have been looking on an off now for approximately 2 years.....but having seen the market fluctuate so much we are more confused than ever. At the moment we live in Angel in London and love it. However, I have communted everyday for the last 4 years for 1.5hrs each way to my work in Surrey and therfore we have finallly decided that it may be time to make a move south of the river. I travel on the train line from Waterloo to Feltam and therfore we are looking for a place with access to this train line both into and out of central London (where my partner works). As first time buyers we would really appreciate your help. Finding and buying our own place still seems a mamouth task but would mean so much to us. A couple of years ago my partner's father died very unexpectedly. It was a terrible time made worse by the fact that she had to manage the probate and arrange for the sale of the house which her father had spent years lovingly restoring/building. It was heartbreaking having to part with this property. Buying our own place would give us the chance to build our own home and would cement a fresh start in our lives together. Any assistance greatfully received. Yours Sam

  35. Hello, we are looking to move to the Central Charente region of France, around Cognac. I was taken very ill around 18 months ago & was left almost blind for around a year, so decided that if I did not start to do my life project, I would never be able too, So we are looking for a tradional property to run a upscale B&B, with a pool, & maybe a couple of Gites if there is the possibility to transform a barn or two, My wife will stay & work in her job until the property is ready to run as a business & to make enough money too top up our small private pensions, which we can draw in Febuary 2010, until we can draw out state pensions in around 15 years. We have just returned from the reqion, & have been let down on our perfect property, as the vendor sort of changed her mind. We have sold our home here in rural Northamptonshire, & are technically homeless, (but staying with our youngest daughter in her very small home, with all our furniture in storage). We have have a limited budget, but most of the cash is in the bank & we do really want move on asap. I hope that our situation & project maybe of interest to you, & that you could help us in our search for a new propery & future. Best wishes & regards Nigel & Tina

  36. Hey Kirstie and Phil. My parents and I are currently looking to move from our house here in Kentish Town, London. Although we love the location, quiet but close to the high street with great transport links, we have finished paying the morgage and are looking to move to a larger house in a similar area. As I'm sure everyone who asks for your help, we have specific needs due to an active musical life. My parents and I all have music lessons which makes our current house, with its large double sitting room quite impractical. We are looking for a three/four bedroom house with an eat in kitchen, dining room, sitting room, study and parking.A garden would be great too! We are having huge problems finding this with the transport links that my mother and I need as she needs to get to Marble Arch and I need to get to Hampstead. Your help would be hugely appreciated in sorting out our housing issue and it would be great if we could be on your next serious. I hope you can help us. Rowan

  38. Hello Kirstie & Phil I'm currently living in Dorset (beautiful but very expensive) and would like to move to somewhere near Salisbury in 2010/2011. Like everyone else my needs are quite specific. I'm a wheelchair user; I know what I'd like, what I can afford (they aren't always the same!) and where I can/can't compromise. One difficulty for me is the trecking around looking, even though I think that's fun. I'm at the early stages of my search but I know from experience it won't be easy. The bungalow I'm in now is 87 years old and had to have loads of work done to make it habitable - things like new joists and foorboards, membrane and concrete floor in the kitchen, A KITCHEN, relocation of back door, chimney breasts removed, heating installed etc etc. So I'm not afraid about somewhere which needs a bit of work. In fact, I loved creating my home the way I wanted it (well, as much as the bank manager would allow); and I loved being site foreman. I currently have 2 bedrooms, 2 reception, offroad parking, a garden (essential for me and for my assistance dog), and level terrain to access the local convenience store etc. It's lovely (though I could use one more room) and if I could transplant it somewhere else that's cheaper I would be pleased. I would love your help as you're good at what you do and you seem willing to take up a challenge. And I know it will be a challenge to find a home that meets my needs let alone my desires. So I'm up for it, are you? Would you consider helping me relocate possibly for the next series? Hope so. I look forward to hearing from you. Take Care

  40. We have been looking for a 'house' here in Bromley for 3 years!! We are in a flat which my parents own, but we need a house now, which me and my brother want to buy together. The tricky thing is we want to try to keep the flat, to rent out and maybe one of us can return to it later. But finding even a 3bed house in this BR1 postcode with the same space as the flat is proving impossible. So now we are even looking at selling the flat, which then means our budget is completly diffrent! ahhhhhhh. HELP!! this is how bad its been. we have offered on 2houses in the last year and been in touching distance to signing, but for some niggling doubts and numbers the deals fell through. We want to basically rent the flat out and get a 3/4 bed house in Bromley where our parents can stay with us. Hope to hear from you

  41. HELP Kirstie & Phil! My boyfriend (35) and I (30) have been looking to buy our first house together for the past year or so. We are both quite cautious people and although we have a decent deposit and have good mortgage offers we have not yet taken the plunge. Perhaps our expectations have been built too high after all this talk of the credit crunch - were we expecting a mansion for a snip of a price?! We have considered many hundreds of properties and viewed 25 or so. I think we have been black listed by the estate agents! I am getting fed up of looking for our dream home and here in North Wales, the housing stock is rather limited. My boyfriend already has sheep and cattle at his parents home and he would like a small holding property whereas I prefer to be close to a community with plenty going on and a smaller mortgage. Please help, we need a neutral voice to help us through our dilemmas! Many thanks and I hope we hear from you soon, Gwen Davies

  42. Hi Myself (28) and my girlfriend (26) are expecting our first baby in March 2010 and looking for our first family home. We are currently renting and are looking to move on up, ideally to a 3 bed in the Loughton/Epping/Woodford area of sunny Essex. We're both super-cute, and our first scan picture shows promising signs of a super-cute baby (if I do say so myself!) and we are in need of help! You look lovely today x

  45. My wife and I live in a yellow submarine and we would very much like to relocate to a castle made of sand... Well ok not quite, but we do live in a 2 bedroom flat in Aberdeen, which should be sold soon. In the meantime we may have to stay with family while we try to find something else suitable i.e a 2/3 bedroom self contained flat or house within Aberdeen itself (Or just outside). We are struggling to find something we like and therefore we would like your help (At least I would, I haven't told the wife about this yet). If it helps we are both incredibly beautiful and in fact in my school year book I was voted most likely to become a male model. Unfortunately this career did not materialize for myself for a variety of reasons, namely the lack of a market for a pot bellied, grey haired, unkempt Scotsman with a torso that looks as though it's been borrowed off a sparrow and legs that would turn a seagulls head. Anyway I digress.. If you could help us that would be awesome, thanks for your time. NB: Nudity not a problem.

  46. We were looking to 'up-size' and our house went on the market at the end of 2007, but in Feb 2008 our lives were turned upside down when, because of an undetected genetic electrical fault, my husband's heart stopped in his sleep, then aged just 39. He came out of a coma but had suffered damage to the brain having been without a pulse for more than 20 minutes during resuscitation. 18 months on he is making a truly remarkable recovery but is still very much travelling a journey. We have two children under 5 and our (unextended) small 1930's 3 bedroom semi house feels like it is busting at the seams. Depending on the outcome of my husband's return to work programme (which we will know by end September 09), we would love to draw a line under this whole episode and relocate, getting away to give ourselves and the children space in more ways than one. Our first problem is to where - we have a number of ideas on location but would be happy to reduce that down to one if it meant an opportunity of your help. We are mentally and physically exhausted by the events of the last 18 months and would truly welcome the gift of having someone lead us by the hand. It may be the push that makes all the difference. Please help. Yours sincerely Nicole

  47. Hi guys, Wife and I are planning the move of our lives. In our mid fifties. No kids. Not camera shy. Have two properties to sell in the East Midlands. I'm a feelance cartoonist working from home, Annie, my wife makes a good cup of tea and likes a challenge. John O'Groats to Lands End...maybe even further? That's the size of the canvass. If you're up for a fun programme (let's make it a Christmas Special?), we're looking for your expert help and advice. Thank you in anticipation. CLIVE

  48. Hello!, My wife {heather} and I live in a Highland Country Cottage, surrounded by four acres of land included. I have had to take early retirement due to health problems, but Heather is still working leaving me to be the House Husband. It is our intention to move and stay in Portugal in three years time. I can't quite remember when a Scotish couple was given the opportunity to appear on the show. Maybe in three years time or sooner we will be fortunate.

  50. We live in a 5 bedroomed semi-detached Victorian house in Stockport, Cheshire with our 3 children. My husband is moving jobs to Nottingham. We have absolutely no idea about Nottingham as I have only ever lived in Cheshire and he lived in India before settling in Stockport and so we could really do with your help. We are looking for a house of similar size so that our children can still have their own rooms and our family and friends from the North West can visit and stay with us. Our new home needs to be in a catchment area for a good school for the children. We would really like to move to a village location rather than live within Nottingham itself, though my husband currently cycles to work and would like to carry on doing so when we move so the new house would be ideally located around 10 miles from Nottingham City Hospital. Can you please help?

  54. We currently live in Grantham in our first home as a married couple. It is a lovely house and if we could just pick it up and move it to a village location with a descent sized flat garden it would be great but this is not possible. We now have a 22 month old son and due to Rheumatoid Arthritis I have had to give up work. This is definitely a cross roads in our lives especially mine. We want to move to our 'life home' but it needs to be on the A1 corridor as my husband commutes up and down to Dartford. I am desperate to build a family room/kitchen conservatory which is I believe the heart of the home to my spec as need easy to use appliances etc. as I have artificial joints in hands and wrists (I love the local business Vale Garden Houses www.valegardenhouses.com but the house would need to be right as they are expensive) OR do we pay more for to find the dream house that is already completed. We don't mind if old or new but the property needs some character and the garden needs to suit and active growing little boy. I would love space for a veggie patch and possibly a tree house?? Also I would like to opportunity as my son gets older to work from home part time so need some office potential, we are happy to develop as our requirements change but need space to do it. All of this means we are therefore looking at houses in wide price bracket from 250 - 400k. I am left with this job myself as my husband works long hours and am over faced by the challenge and would love some help from Kirsty and Phil. I love the program so much and you haven't filmed in Lincolnshire for a very long time please consider this application.

  55. We currently live 5 miles east of Brighton on the seafront in a 200 year old Coast Guard Cottage with direct sea views and downland to the side. We run a home dog boarding service and currently turn away at least 30% of business so are looking to move to a larger property with our own land to walk the dogs. As we want to keep our existing clients we need to keep to an 8 - 10 mile radius of central Brighton. We have viewed a few places and are now thinking about buying land and building on it. We are not selling our current home. Would you be able to help and advise us?

  56. We currently live in our first property bought together at the height of the market for ?213,000 in December 2007, a 2 bedroom bungalow in the sought-after location of St Ives, Ringwood, Hampshire. We have decided to take advantage of the low housing market and move up to a 3/4 bedroom house, in the same area or at least within 5 or 10 miles. We have a maximum budget of ?250,000 and our currently property is on the market for ?214,950. We are looking for a place that we can grow into, maybe over the next 10 years. Ideally it would be a character property with 4 bedrroms however we would compromise on the age for the right house and the right area.

  57. My fiance and i are wanting to relocate within Edinburgh. We have been in this flat for two years now, but would so dearly look to move to the older and more attractive part of town, such as New Town and Stockbridge, or some of the southern parts of Edinburgh such as Bruntsfield or Morningside. We currently own the flat outright, and would probably be looking to rent this flat out, and raise money to get a flat for around 200-250k.

  72. I am English, Noi is from Thailand and we have been married for 20 years. Our son has left home and gone off to enjoy himself at Uni. I am due to retire in three years time. Time to consider the options. Our plan: sell our place in Norwich, buy a small place in the UK, either Maccelesfield or Norwich and let part of it out whilst retaining a bolt hole for us back home in the UK. Buy a place in Thailand in the north hill country. Money is limited and I know almost nothing about Thailand. What I think I would like to do is open a small resdidential English speaking college of business, for Thai people; a kind of learn English and at the same time get an English busniess qualification. Would it work I wonder, I am qualified but who would be my customers and where would I find them? Noi wants me to retire and take it easy; I can't.

  80. Hello my name is Machiko, I am Japanese settled in UK. My spouse is an English who was brought up in Eastbourne and purchased a house when he was single I had lived in London for 5 years before we got married, and then, have moved down to his house in Eastbourne. 2 months ago I have started a new job in London. It is a 1 hour walk from Eastbourne station to our house and it is painfully tiring to commute to London from here even if my husband drops me off and picks me up at the station when he is available. we decided to move to a house or a flat near Newhaven (or Seaford/Eastbourne) station. I really like Newhaven because it is not too expensive, and saves me 10 minutes in mornings. We both work and will see a financial person on Tuesday this week. We would like your expert advice about our new property because it will be our lifetime home.

If we dont sell it will we have to sell our home in England because of the Euro becoming stronger now. Our thoughts are sell our UK house to buy out the spanish house. Doing this will leave us selling a house worth £650,000 to buy a house for £400,000 which we really don't want to do! This situation is starting to take a massive strain on our family's life and making the relationship between everyone very tense. Please help us start living our lives again by getting out of this mess! If you cant help us on this show can you please put us in the right direction of a programme that will.. Thankyou :)

  86. Hello - We are a family of five -- soon to be six. (Dad, Mom, and 3 boys aged 5,4 and 2. Our fourth is due in September.) Currently we own a lovely 6-bedroom Victorian house in North London. But I spend 2 hours in the car each day ferrying the kids back and forth to school despite the fact that it's only a few miles away. London traffic is dreadful and I've had enough! This, coupled with the fact that bringing up four children in central London isn't ideal has us thinking it's time for a change. We'd like to buy in Suffolk, near the coast. This would be our primary home, spending weekends, and all school holidays there. During term time, we want to rent very close to the school in Hampstead ... i.e - no driving! We want to keep our "city" credibility (I'm a New Yorker) but reap the advantages of country life. Can you help?

  89. Hi, quick question regarding a past show. You helped a couple relocate closer to their families and the husband's work and also find a retail location for the wife's "booming internet business", a children's furniture business. I would love to learn more about the retail location, a "co-operative" market. Can anyone remember the show and tell me where I can get more information on this retail centre? Thank you! PS LOVE the show! Cheers!

  98. one word - JERSEY! We live in Jersey in the Channel Islands and have been looking for a new house for nearly a year now. We need help! The market here is a nightmare - there are no laws to assist the purchaser and we lost our dream home 3 weeks before we were due to move in because the vendor "decided not to sell". We are not relocating, just trying to move within the island. Our budget is £600k - and there is nothing out there. Any help would be greatly appreciated guys!

  99. Hi Phil and Kirsty Our situation is different... we have known since summer 2007 that by 1st September 2011, we must be living within 1 hours of Sutton Bonington,(Nottingham Vet school). Even though we reluctantly are leaving the West Berkshire village we are living in now, we also see it as an opportunity to find the perfect house in the perfect LOCATION. So we are taking a few trips up to that way, trying to identify one or two areas where we can concentrate our house hunting. As our son Adam will be 8 in summer 2011, we need to consider schools first of all. Primary schools are normally local, so easier to identify, however we are also keen to ensure that Adam goes to a good secondary school. Question: how do we figure out which catchment area a seconday school has? if the village or area we are considering is within the catchment area of a good school? We could really use some help or tips. Thanks. Anne

  100. Hi! My wife and I are looking to relocate out of London to the M4/M40 corridor to the west and could do with Phil and Kirstie's help! We are going to rent out the property we currently own in Battersea and are looking for a 4 bedroom, period property in a rural village with a nice garden. We have been looking since before Christmas and have had a sale fall through on us (the same one 4 times!). Our budget is up to £450,000. I need to be able to get into London a few days a week by either car or train - both option would be great. My wife is expecting and so we have a slight time pressure! Hope you can help! Thanks, Nick

  101. My sister and I want to sell our respective homes and buy one larger property in the countryside, where we both can live together. We would like to be together, but we need to be able to be completely separate too. She lives in Manchester at the moment in a bungalow and I live in Halifax, also in a bungalow. We should have £300,000 to spend on buying the new property. Ideally we'd like about four bedrooms so we can have family to visit. We'd like nice rural location but not too far from a village. Also I'd like to be able to drive to the motorway, for when I want to get away. We would love to live in southern Ireland as that's where we both hail from, but we've lived here, almost all our lives, so we'd consider almost anywhere. Here's hoping, Regards Kay and Maria.

  102. Dear Kirstie and Phil- Today, I need to challenge you with a really exciting task: I have lived throughout different and exciting areas of Europe over the last 15 years and have finally come to the realisation that I now need to settle more for my drive and passion to run my own business as well as the physical impact. This has brought me to the visualisation that I would like to settle in the English counrtyside running my own Day Spa. I plan to open a Day Spa offering total wellness, relaxation and the chance to feel revitalised in the comforting grounds of a cottage with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere in the green, quiet peacefulness of the country side, 1.5 hours drive away from London and easily accessible from other surrounding cities (access via public transport would be ideal). The large but secluded garden will offer private areas and hidden corners with cosy sun beds and loungers to allow all stress and tension to leave your mind, body and soul. My main focus lies on creating an atmosphere by selecting warm furniture in harmony with the nature to be able to provide the space for self reflection and to leave with a total-feel-good-factor. The Spa facilities will consist of a Sauna, steam room and log fired outdoor hot tub and lots more treats and hidden gems. It is also the plan to live at the same premises and to offer a few comfortable rooms as B&B. Now, with all the above in mind, I really hope and would be so grateful if you could accept my challenge and help me to find the perfect location for the business I am 200% believing in and putting my entire heart and soul in. I am so looking forward to hearing from you. Eva

  103. Dear Kirstie and Phil, I'm a teacher who is looking to seriously alter his lifestyle and outlook on life. At present, I live in North East suburbia but am desperate to move to beautiful Northumberland. I've always wanted to live in the country, next to wildlife (the most carefully looked after thing in my current home is my pond which I spend hours tinkering with and admiring much to the annoyance of family and friends alike!). I'm also looking to change my whole life and get into Wildlife and Conservation, and a lot of my friends are keen walkers or bird watchers (very riveting weekend hobbies they keep telling me!). It would be great to hear from the two of you, and I could show you around some of the truly amazing sights the North East of England has to offer. Hope to hear from you, Take care, Mark

We have a propoerty abroad that we would like to keep but could potentially sell to fund the final property/properties solution. We'd really like to be considered for inclusion in your program. We are both senior sales professionals, with strong wills-sometimes differing in opinion- I'm sure our quest would make interesting viewing. I look forward to hearing back. Kind Regards Sue Cameron

  113. Hello There kirsty & Phil Firstly let me introduce myself, my name is Penny Pink I am based on the south coast and have sold a second house to follow my plans and dream in which I shared with my longterm relationship/guy for many years's. the plan is to research and look to a life abroad in either France, Spain or Italy. I am not only looking to relocate but looking for a business opportunity, for example it could be a seasonal campsite within the land of the property, or some land available for a possible venture, or farming of the land that comes with property or a working coastal venture, bistro, watersports shack or bar. The sad news is I am a singleton and still wish to follow my plans but have sat still with this dream. It would be an absolute pleasure and experience to meet you both and share this journey and project with you and this way I could pick your brains for free. In the meantime if you reqyuire any further details or information, i'd be delighted to get them to you. Many Thanks Regards Penny Pink

We decided we needed a change of scene, selling our home to relocate to somerset with our two children Ollie and Grace. We would love a home with a garden big enough for chickens and a veg patch, rural enough to give us and our kids the outdoor lifestyle we would love. However finding a home we both like with in our budget isn't as easy as it looks on the TV!! We have now exchanged on our Oxfordshire home and will be renting in Somerset untill we fined the house for us. We would love your help to fined a home for us and our business! 115. We are a normal family comprising of myself, my partner of 6 years Alex and our sons Samuel 7 and Nicholas 3. (Alex also has a daughter, Elise aged 6 who also comes to stay). All of us all get on well and love spending time together. We currently live in a modern 3 bedroom house with a small garden in Welwyn Garden City and pretty much like the area. We have done as much as we can to our current home and have enjoyed living here but really need more space, especially a bigger garden than a postage size one that we currently have. I would love Kirsty and Phil to find our if possible forever home. This would be a dream come true as I am keen to move onto the next stage, but Alex is a litte nervous. 117. Hello Phil & Kirsty, We are probably the luckiest people in Britain right now because we have a substantial wedge of cash in bonds and we have somewhere to live for the next 2 years... until Gaz finishes 22 years in the army and is suddenly unemployed and homeless!!! The dream will crash around our ears and we will be forced to make life-changing decisions. Being a forces couple, we have lived in a fair few properties in our time. We've done the open-plan apartment, the 2-bedroom 'cat-swinger' and the georgian townhouse. We've done uber-rural and town-centre. We've got loads of ideas of what our 'forever house' needs to be but there are tonnes of variables to be considered; jobs (communications/nursing), family (North-West England), snowboarding(!). We know that we will need to compromise and reassess along the way. Should we invest in a project now without the surety of employment? Should we wait and continue to save whilst tracking the ups and downs in the market? For us, buying a house at this stage of our life isn't about making money or income potential, it's about making a new start, it's a statement of being settled in a society, together, in love.

  118. Moving from central London, where I walk to work in the City, we just put our riverside loft-style warehouse apartment on the market. So it's time to start the search for our big dream house with maybe an acre or more in rural or semi-rural Essex. This house won't be in any street. It'll be more like a farmhouse or old vicarage. Why give up the roots we've laid down over 15 years in Wapping? Well, we want to notice it gets dark at night, quiet at night, with a sense of space, sky and air when we step out the front door, french windows onto a lawn, fruit trees (maybe even a bee-hive), smell the mown hay or hear the birdsong from the adjacent farmland or woods. We want to grow asparagus and rhubarb in a walled garden, take a country walk to the local pub for a decent pint, let our seven-year-old get a dog, throw memorable barbeques by the pool, play with the remote-controlled up-and-over double garage doors..live somewhere where the weekend starts as soon as you get home on Friday afternoon. Now you're getting the idea. OK, so it's all about compromise and we're open to suggestions, but with a budget of 1.5m, find me a big sexy country house now!!!

  119. Dear Kirsty and Phil, My husband and I are due to retire this summer. We currently own a good sized 4 bedroom detatched house in Barlaston, Staffordshire. Our aim is to buy a smaller 2/3 bed place on the south coast, and a 2/3 bed place somewhere sunny. The UK house must be in a place with character - a village with a feeling of community, a nice pub and plenty of places to go walking in the countryside. We grew up in Deal, Kent so would be happy to go back there but we are completely open to suggestions. Must also have good transport links as we have 2 children (based in Maidenhead and Maidestone). The property abroad would ideally be within walking distance of the coast, have a communal pool and must be low maintenance as we will only be there for the summer. My husband is also a golfer, so being close to a club/course is a must! We love Spain and have looked at areas like Nerja previously. Good transport links are important as we hope to have our family visit us frequently and we want to make it as easy for them as possible. We would like to avoid anywhere too Anglo-cized, but at the same time neither of us are linguists so a small degree of ex-pats would probably help us settle in. My husband is an Accountant and so is always looking for a bargain, whereas I am looking for properties and areas that will keep us busy and full of fun in our retirement. We would be thrilled to be shown places we have not yet considered and are very flexible and open to suggestion. We love watching your programme and it only just occurred to me that you may be able to help us too! Kind regards, Jane and Jim Croskerry

  122. Dear Kirstie and Phil, I would be very grateful if you would be able to give me some advice regarding my property search. Two years ago in July I sold my last home in Hampshire to move back to Kent due to a job move. I found somewhere to buy quite quickly which required work but at the time I was unable to persuade any tradesmen to undertake the work required so reluctantly pulled out of the purchase. I have been renting in Maidstone now for well over a year and have recently started looking again seriously. Initially I was looking at modern 2 bed flats but having viewed a number of flats my confidence to put an offer in has been dented when I have looked hard at the maintenence carried out by management companies and the depreciation in value of some of these properties, which in some cases is in the order of 50% in two years. If it is not to be a flat pricewise the other option is to look again at a house or bungalow that requires work. As a regular viewer of your programme I am sure you would say this would be the better option in the long term but there is still the issue of what price to offer. Unfortunately I don't think my property search would include many properties with period features or stunning views but I am sure many people are in the same position given the current state of the housing market. 123. Hi There, Could you help us please? We are a married couple and selling our 5 bed large victorian terrace in Waterloo Liverpool, and are looking to relocate in nearby St Helens. But....we would like to buy 2 properties within walking distance of each other, this i have found to be a task so far as they must be investment properties ( cheap) as ideally we want one for mum and dad and one for a tenant, so both would be rental income. there would be no mortgage on either property so a cheap cash purchase is perfect. Undergoing any work requirement's is not a problem. We have suffered considerably with this credit crunch and 2 properties with a rental income for life will safeguard our future . If St Helens is not suitable then we would consider relocating to the isle of man where Mr Wheeler was born and where we have family. Please could you let me know if you are able to help. Thank you. Mrs Carole Wheeler.

  125. Hello there, I would be really interested in Phil and Kirsty's expertise in helping us achieve our dream of establishing a cafe and art gallery with living accommodation above. Myself, my wife and two children (aged 4 and 2) are looking to relocate from Frome, Somerset, to a renowned hilly or mountainous area with a view to eventually turning the living accommodation above the cafe into B&B rooms, particularly for cyclists exploring the nearby trails. We have our eye on Tavistock for Dartmoor or Wellington (Somerset) and its environs for Exmoor, the Quantocks, the Black Down and Brendon Hills but would also consider the Yorkshire Dales or Peak District for access to some classic cycling routes. Ideally we are looking for a part commercial/part residential building %u2013 the lower floor or which could be converted into the cafe/gallery, the upper floor for at least two-bed accommodation for ourselves and then at some point for conversion to two en-suite B&B rooms. In an ideal world there would be a decent garden with a couple of mature trees for unique tree house B&B accommodation in the future, but we realise all of these things are a tall order! We really hope you can help us in our search.

  128. We have just sold our 3 bed house in Bristol, and need help to find our next family home. We have 3 children aged 4, 2 and 2months and want to move to a bigger house with large garden. The question is do we settle for a semi in the suburbs of Bristol or fulfil our dream of a long term family home in the mendips / surrounding villages of North Somerset. We run a business in Avonmouth on M5 and would like to be either a reasonable cyclable distance (6 - 8 miles) or up to 30 mins drive away. The ideal house would be set in a large plot possibly with an outbuilding and room to park our well used campervan, 4 beds and lots of family living space. We have a proceedable buyer and our hands full with the business and children so all advice and help would be wonderful. Many thanks Amy and Dan

  129. I would love to have your help in looking for an ideal property to raise by Kids in Bedford, UK. We would like a three bedroom house, with two bathrooms and two seperate lounges with plenty of storage space and a medium size rear garden. We would love the property close to the Bedford main station or easily accessible by public transport to the station cause my Husband works in London and I work in bedford. It's been so difficult trying to get an ideal house cause the new houses are mostly flats and the old ones have so much work done in the porperty.I would like a propert the has very little work to be done. It would be great to really have your help as the funds for the property is not a problem and we are ready and would like to be settled in our new home by May 2009.The property will be our first buy and our range is a property btw 150k -180k

  130. We are planning to move to Adelaide later this year (August), and have been deperately trawling through websites to get info on locations, house prices, schools etc. We are not wanting to live too near the city and are not that bothered about being on top of a beach, but there is not that much information about other areas. The children are our main concern, and I am keen to make sure we move where they can intergrate easily (walk to school, friends in the neighbourhood). Houses seem to vary and really unsure what type of house we should go for. Richard is a decorator, so not put off doing a house up, but don't know if this is wise when just starting off. On top of this we have been trying to make sense of the purchase/sale laws. We are travelling on a 475 visa, which I understand means we are not applicable for first purchase bonus, and have to get permission to buy (although we have been told this shouldn't be a problem). As you can probably tell, I think I have actually ending up confusing myself with all the research! We are currently in rented accomodation, after selling our house back in September last year so are in a good position of having the funds to hopefully buy a house mortgage free. If you can offer any help to help us, it would be gratefully received!

  131. Hi there, My partner and and I have had this dream since we meet each other of having our own little B&B in Spain. You would think that me being spanish would make things easier but 5 years on, two kids, still stuck in London. I think now that a more realistic way of doing it is to relocate in Spain, renting a house while we rent ours in London. I would go to work and he would stay home. I'm having problems finding the right location where to bring up our children and still keep our dream alive. Help please!! Thanks for your time

  133. My husband is a bespoke leather tailor with a rented premises on the Hackney Rd. I am an actress with a 3-bed ex-Council flat in Camden. Since getting married last May, we haven't really managed to move in together and need an unusual property, fairly central, that can house a workshop and us...quite a tall order, I know. We can put our flat on the market and camp out his workshop while we search for the ideal property. If this interests you, get in touch. Many Thanks, Aoife x

  136. Hello Kirsty and Phil. I am planning to re-locate from France to the UK. I moved into a village house in the Loire Valley that my husband and I had bought to retire to. Sadly my husband died a few months before we were due to move. However, I contined our dream and moved to France on my own.I have now achieved in France what I intended and am now ready to return to the UK. I would be intrereted in being considered for your programme as I am intending to move to Devon in a lively village location near to Exeter/Plymouth so I can easily get back to either France or my old home in Gloucestershire to visit friends and family. I am looking for a character cottage, low maintenance with a garden within easy access to the coast, but not within a busy tourist area. This will be a permanent home where I would be able to involve myself within the village activities. I enjoy the countryside and walking as well as being within easy access to a large town and the coast. After I have sold my house in France I will have a small budget but will be a cash buyer.Hopefully I will be able to take advantage of the lowering house prices within the UK enabling me to find a comforatable cheery home where I can get on with the rest of my life. I have seen many properties on the "internet" sites but obviously would welcome some professional support in buying the right home for me. I am totally in awe of all the many different villages and am geting totally confused as what will be the for me. I look forward to hearing from you if you feel you can help!

  137. Dear Kirsty & Phil, My husband Bruce and I presently live in Enfield. My husband has retired and I hope to do the same soon. We have two daughters who are married with children. One lives near Saffron Walden, Essex, and the other in Woolpit, Bury St Edmunds. We would like to be near one or the other, or somewhere in the middle. We thought Suffolk may be a possibility. We would like to have minimum of 2 bedrooms, a dining area and not too much work to do in the property. Although we like the country, we would like to be not too far from shops and perhaps a railway stn. as we also have family in North London. Our present property we think may fetch around 2K, and we would like to have some money to keep as a retirement fund. I know it is asking a lot, but having watched the programme avidly for years, I am convinced you can help. I like a cottagey place but with modernisation - Bruce is quite happy with the low ceiling beamed look. SO....? We have 5 grandchildren and so would like a place that could accommodate them for get togethers, or perhaps for a couple at a time to stay over during school hols. Oh, and if possible, I would also like to have a Catholic Church which is fairly accessible I never thought I would be in the position to seek your advice and was delighted to see your invitation to take part. I have to say both of us are always amazed at your ingenuity in your searches - many's the time I have thought "Yes, that's the one!" and always bemused when it is turned down. The other reason we love your programme is because it always has a resolution, unlike the endless other programmes where the lookers just appear to be wanting an airing on TV and always end up by saying that they are going home to think about it again. I have given up watching those because they are just a waste of time. Your range of properties and also your negotiation with the agents is very impressive, and I really hope you can help us. We presently are in the process of an offer on our home and the plan is that we will move to live with a relative until the sale is completed, so that we don't end up in a chain. Thanks for reading this and look forward to hearing from you. Christine

  138. hi Phil and Kirstie, I am looking for a two or three bed property close to the city of London preferrably a house. We have an offer of 2.8% interest on a 70 per cent mortgage loan. There is also a property to be sold to defray most of the loan in the hope of an upturn. I live north presently and wish to try my luck in the current climate. In fact I am looking rest my body somewhsere I can call a home for the last time. I am in my sixties and want to be able to go to the theatre and entertainment venues. Until I had the bank offer three weeks ago I had tried searching for myself for ten months now in vain. I am running out of time I think my offer might lapse and therefore miss out on my dream home during this downturn. Please takes this matter up for me if you can help.

  139. Hello there Kirsty and Phil, we r planning to buy a place in london (west nd north area). We r waiting for a mortgage approval(in principle) of around 250000(with 100k deposit). The 2 option we have in mind are: 1- a 2 bedroom (minimum) house with garden nd garage(the garage is a must!) 2- an old nd "rotten" victorian property to divide and renew in possibly 2 separate "flat" one to live in and the other to rent out (garage a must 4 this solution aswell). We may add another 20k or so for renovation and furnishing for the second option. I hope to be able to use ur vast knowledge and experience in this kind of business(i always tend to have the best advice,nd u surely are the best in this...!) Many thanks Enrico nd Asia

  141. Dear Kirsty and Phil, Hope you are well. We are a young couple currently living in Clapham and would really appreciate having your expertise to help us find and buy our first home. Previously we rented in Stoke Newington, London and really adored the area with its bohemian vibe. Our move to Clapham was in an attempt to save money by living with my best friend and her partner - however we haven't really settled in the area. We have looked into moving back to Stoke Newington, however the prices are beyond our budget!! I am a primary school teacher which enables us to buy through the governments ‘Mychoicehomebuy’ scheme, and we plan to take advantage of this. So to sum it up: young couple, first time buyers looking to buy in an up and coming part of London (Ideally somewhere like Stoke Newington but without the price tag!!), using the 'Mychoicehomebuy%u2019 scheme - can you help?! We are open to suggestions for the area (we have heard that SE London is on the up) however in terms of property we are looking for a character build that can have some minor improvements within the outlines of the scheme. Hope to hear from you, Faye and Nick

  144. Hi Kirsty and Phil, I am writing on behalf of my church, an English church situated in Voorschoten, near The Hague in The Netherlands. Our church, made up of English-speaking internationals and expats, has currently no premises but rents space in the British School. We are desperate to find our own premises in Voorschoten (rent or purchase) so that we can provide an appropriate venue for worship and better facilities for our ever-growing Sunday school club as well as initiatives during the week for the benefit of the local community such as Mum and Toddler groups, youth clubs etc. We are open-minded in terms of space but could really use some creative help in finding a suitable location. We'd love you to help us with this challenging but important relocation and we'll make sure you have a great time whilst in Holland! We have money in the bank ready for a deposit and are looking possibly around the Sevenoaks area or similar. In the country with good train links to London approximately 30 minutes away and close to the M25 as I work in Romford Essex. Our budget is around £380,000 and we would like some where we could possibly extend and update at a later date, 3/4 bedrooms preferably detached. We are currenlt renting in Maidstone which is proving too far away for sSteve's work.

  159. We moved from Kilton Keynes in 2003 to live in Almeria in Spain, then in 2005 moved to the Algarve. We now feel that after 6 years we have had a great adventure (some good bits, some not so good) but that it is time for something new. Trevor has always wanted to buy a yacht and sail around the world and I decided one balmy August evening last year that we should get on with that dream as he will be 60 next year. I suppose over the months I have got a little scared at the prospect of packing up (and possibly giving away) alot of my personal possessions as there just won't be room for them ! So we are giving thought to a 2 bedroom house or apartment in Lincolnshire that we can buy and rent out if necessary. We came to the UK in January (2009) and loved the area and realise you can get alot for your money there. Then we saw a lovely big house by the main road with stables and paddock and Trevor began this dream of us having a boarding kennels ( I am dog mad!!- and this would be my dream). So we are now quite confused... do we go for the apt. and boat, or the large family house and run a business ?? Believe me this keeps us awake at night. We always watch your Location series', and all the other housey shows, but I think Kirsty and Phil, speak honestly and get straight to the facts, we could sure use some advice. We'd love to be on the programme and share our experience with others who are considering a move abroad. It's fun and exciting, but only for a time - it isn't necessarily all it's cracked up to be, but we remain positive and look forward to our next venture - wherever that might be ! Hope to hear from you Karen and Trevor Lennon

  161. My Husband and I have had our house on the market for a few months, but during the first few weeks of this year, plenty of interest has been shown, and although we have had no offers at present, we have now had 4 people come for a second viewing. Should we sell soon, we have no idea of where to go, we are looking in a radius of 20 miles of our presenthome in Bucks and know that there are a few things we do not want with our next house. i.e. we would like a view, reasonably rural, and not on an A road. Would you be interested in making us part of one of your relocation programmes? We would love some help. Many thanks Sarah Jennings

  163. Hi there, love your show. We are moving due to husbands job. He has been promoted within the Police and as this is a Public Interest Transfer we were to receive a relocation package eg guaranteed offer from Carcus Relocation, financial support and moving expenses paid. We thought when he accepted the promotion that we were going to be offered the guaranteed offer for our house from the relocation company Carcus but this is now not the case due to the current housing market the service has been withdrawn. The other moving expenses will still be payed but we now need to sell privately. A bit of a nightmare as nothing is moving. We have estate agents coming round next week to value. We currently live in South Oxfordshire and have been here for 5 years. We will be going back to Scotland where we originally come from. The area we are looking at is Aryshire. We have 2 kids and a dog and need help finding somewhere with good schooling ect. I hope you can help as i'm stressed over the move and need advice. The move will need to take place between 1st April and 1st August 2009.I will re-contact your team when we have sold and are ready to buy although any advice would be good at this time.

  167. Dear Kirsty & Phil. We need help. We're relocating from East Sussex to the Luton area in the next 3-6 months. My husband has already started his new role and comes home at weekends. All excited about this new opportunity, we printed off a map of Luton & surrounding countryside, drew a 10cm circle around the town and then gave up... I don't know the area, my husband's South African and we've got two small boys who'll need a good primary school! We want to find a small character property, in the perfect village with a good school, near a big town. Oh dear, they don’t exist! No, I’m sure they do, we just have no idea where to begin%u2026 Our current property is on the market but no offers as of yet. We’d be happy to restore but the place must be liveable and if there was space to extend that would also be great - we don't really want to move again for a while (we've moved around a lot). That’s about it really %u2013 hope you can help. Any advice on potentially good towns would be a great start! Emma, James, Josh & Ben

  168. Bee and I are in 30s with 2 kids under 3. We have just sold home in Wallingford and need to buy in Oxfordshire. We have 70K deposit, and can spend about 400K. I am trying to get work as a doctor either in Thame near my in-laws arable/pig farm or Wallingford where we currently live. We want some outside space, 3bedrm. Happy to renovate a bit What else would you like to know? I am an Aussie, but now English. Bee has the fashion sense, I am simply pragmatic. We have a house in Perth, which we could sell if we need more deposit - but it would break my heart! We will rent for 6-12mths if we can't find what we need.

  169. Hi, We are first time buyers who are lost in the property market. We currently live in a rental house in Reading Berkshire from my parents. Our main problem is finding the right property in the right location. We are surrounded by lovely villages like Henley, Windsor and Marlow but all appear out of our price bracket. I work in Leatherhead, my boyfriend works in Reading and my horse lives in Maidenhead hence finding a property central to all three is a nightmare. We need a three bedroom house with good living space and space for a home office as I also work from home twice a week. Please help, we feel now is the time to buy but we just don't know where to go and I'm going stir crazy in our current one bed house! Argh!! Thank you

  170. Who are we? We have been married for 2 years and Kevin has three youg daughters and I am now pregnant so we are searching for a bigger home. Where we live now We live in a stunning 2 bed period cottage in Bray, nr Windsor. We are hoping to get a 3/4 bed, 2 bathroom house in central Windsor and hope we can get something more affordable in the current climate, however we are struggling to find something that we love as most properties in our price bracket are modern or new builds and positively ugly. Can you help us find our dream home.

  173. Hi Relocation, we're currently living in a luxurious Victorian flat in the midlands owned by our employer for which we pay very little rent. We've spent our money on flats in Edinburgh which we rent out and can't really sell in the current property market. It looks like we'll need to join the real world when we relocate to Rochester, Kent. We want something with character, a garden and lots of space for our growing family but are only living on one salary at the moment, so don't know if we can beat down the price of the lovely Victorian villas in the centre of town. Any help? Lucy & Doug.

  174. Dear Kirstie and Phil can you help our family? My husband has recently been promoted (sadly with no extra salary)to a job as a sports reporter based in the North West therefore we have to move.We currently live in Gainsborough in Lincolnshire and our house is up for sale(no viewings as yet). At present he is spending some of the week living with freinds in Pyonton near manchester and communiting from home. We are a family of five. We have a 22year old daughter(from a previous marriage) currently at Medical School in Sheffield who comes home fairly regularly an eight year old boy and 16 month old boy. We would of hoped to get something with 4 bedrooms but realistically we know we will probably have to make do with three. Im a staff nurse working in scunthorpe and love my job and would need to also work once we move, therefore it is very important we relocate to a place with good schools and nursery. We havent got much in the way of savings and Im not confident about our house selling this end and therefore feel at a loss. Any advice would be apprecited

  175. Dear kirsty & Phil This is probably a long shot but worth a try! Following the bereavements of both my mother and her husband within the past two years my brother and I are in the process of trying to sell the family home. It is in a very desirable location in the county of Surrey within commuting distance to London, set in a 1/3 of an acre with a separate plot with planning permission for a 3 bedroom house. The house was built by our grandfather in the 1930's and has remained in the family. My brother and I also grew up there. We have decied to sell but it has been on the market since September 08 with a great deal of interest, but no further negotiations. We received one offer at the very begining whihc did not materialise. The first estate agents provided poor marketing and were also in breach of the property descriptions act and we terminated the agreement. However inspite of interest with current agents we do not seem to get to a point of negotiation. We would be grateful for your expertise. Kind regards Maddy

  176. Ok so, I moved to France 4 1/2 years ago to be with my french now fiance. This summer we are going to Vegas to get married but before we go we would like to move back to England. We have a dog who is not able to enter the UK before 6 months yesterday and we leave for Vegas on the 7th of august leaving us a very short period of time to move in. My fiance is a qualified teacher in france and we are also presently looking for a job for her as a teacher in the brighton area, and I have spent the past 3 1/2 years as a waiter so would hope to live in an area where there is easy access to a good selection of bars and restaurants(I don't drive(It's not worth it in paris)). We aren't realy looking to buy but to rent as our position on arrival will not be too stable and I can't take too much time off work as we are still saving for the wedding. Help us if you can and if not thanks for the consideration and any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated, Thanks Joe and Jeanne

  178. Hi Phil and Kristy, We're a young family living in Bristol. We're looking to make the most of the current housing downturn to upsize from our 3 bed semi-detached to 4/5 bed detached within good school area's which is easier said then done in Bristol. We’re lucky enough to be able to jump a few runs on the ladder and think that this is a great time to do it. After spending the last four years in our current house, we’re looking for the family home of our dreams which we can spend the next ten/fifteen years. Really giving our one year old Son somewhere to grow up. We have accepted an offer on our house and are currently searching without any joy. Hope you can help!

We bought a chalet bungalow in need of complete renovation with a beautiful large garden surrounded by hedges. As we are approaching retirement we now feel we need to downsize to somewhere that is more manageable with pavements and streetlights and is within walking distance of a few shops. We have been looking off and on for the past couple of years but have yet to find anywhere suitable. Can you please help.

  183. Hi Kirstie and Phil!, We are beginning the search for our next stage of family home and need some expert advice. We have a two and half year old son (need to be near good schools) and a mad 7 month old weimaraner (need to be near open space). Currently home is an Edwardian terrace in West Dartford (Bluewater proximity a must) and we are bursting out at the seams. Husband works in Maidstone, Kent and we wonder what else we can get for our money. We haven't been brave enough to put our house on the market yet, but with your drive and know how I'm sure we'd have no trouble selling (one of the best roads in the area). If we had the chance we would buy another house in our road, but sadly none are for sale....maybe you could help persuade some of our neighbours????!!!! Anyway hope you get to read this and pick us, husband doesn't know I've entered but he loves your show......!

  185. Hi, Me and my partner are going through some changes! Not only are we getting married this year but we are also looking to buy our first home. The year has been a tough one for both of us with many unexpected low points and changes in circumstance. We are looking to make a fresh start together and start this year on a more positive note with the hope that this will run through our lives together. Our budget is average, our expectations are high and we want to find something quaint rather then a standard new build!

  188. Dear Phil and Kirsty - we hope you will view our challenge as a slightly different take on your programme. We want to downsize from the house of our dreams! Can you help us equal the house that we love so much? You see - we love the house we're in. We live in a small village, no shop, two pubs, with beautiful countryside views front and rear, massive back garden, split level quirky layout. When we visited this house 5 years ago as part of our last househunt, we looked up the 22 steep steps to the house, thought about weekly shopping and thought no-way! Then, we walked into the house, saw the view from the front window and said "wow!". I stood, not moving, mesmerised by the view and from that moment I was hooked. By the time we had been in the house for 5 minutes, we were both in love! Although we have been together for 19 years, this was the first house we had bought together, as when we got together I moved into hubby's house when we got married. Given the economic downturn, the end of our fixed rate mortgage in January 2010 and the fact that we hit the big 50 in 2010/2012 respectively, we now want to downsize so we can enjoy our 50s as the travel-loving, holiday-mad couple we love to be, enjoying life to the max. Can you help us move from our perfect house, to a smaller version of a perfect house? Can you guide us through the house-hunting experience and challenge our thinking so we can find a perfectly formed replacement? We want to be debt free, but rich in lifestyle - whilst having a relaxing home retreat every day after work! Help us, our teen son and two soppy black Labs downsize, please!

  189. Hallo! We have a home in London which we hope to rent out if we can buy a house in the countryside for the right price! We have a BIG search area and a challenging list of requirements - WE CAN REALLY DO WITH YOUR HELP! We have two kids (9months and 2 years) which we'd like to raise in the countryside. We are looking for 5/6 bedroom house with studio/office space and at least an acre of land. We definitely don't want any road noise from big roads or railways, and we prefer properties with bags of character... Good schools in the catchment area is a must...We are looking within oxfordshire, berkshire, buckinghamshire and small area in hampshire. My husband still has to travel to Egham in Surrey for work, so we can't wonder off too far afield. We have what we think is a fairly substantial budget...but these properties get snapped up quickly, and we don't know our search area all that well! Let us know whether you are able to help! We have renovated a set of barns on the edge of the medieval town of Mirepoix in France which we are not just looking to sell but would be happy to part exchange with someone in the UK for up to 70% of the value of one of our houses.... it's just another way to help the market keep moving. 192. Hi Phil and Kirstie. My boyfriend and I are from Plymouth and wanting to buy our first place. We live at my mum's at the moment who is selling her house so we are also under a bit of pressure. We have a good deposit but are anxious to stay within the 20% deposit bracket for a good mortgage deal. We would like a house with 2 double bedrooms, some character which is convenient as these are located close to the city centre which is our ideal location, and a house that needs some decoration but not necessarily a project (unless at a very good price)! We are getting fed up with estate agents and needing your help.

  209. Having worked in the property market myself and lived and breathed the same village air for years, the last year has been changing for me. With the market down spiral I decided to leave my employment, sell my house (which i bought when i was 20) and return to full time education. Big change...and lots more free time!! Problem being I am a single parent,24 myself and now stuck in rented accomodation. Is there any chance you could do something on rented with thE market being how it is? I am looking to move, daughter and I, to Bristol area, close to my Univeristy. Living 30 miles away at the moment is costly in petrol, time and childcare, though my support network is all based in my current home town. This is a big step for me, and one Im finding hard to grasp, whats right?whats wrong?? general parental concern etc. Also the letting agents i have spoken to have not assisted with information on areas, schooling etc other then thrust the agency fees and money matters in my face.Plus with the added disadvantage of being a single parent not only do I have no income but claim housing benefit...many have said no... 211. Kirstie and Phil, boy, do I need your help!!! You would think that in the current market, if you expressed an interest in a property and gave clear instructions to the relevant agents that you are genuinly interested in finding/purchasing/leasing a commercial property, that you would have them falling at your feet??? Not in Norfolk you aint. I have been actively looking for the property that will forfill my basic needs of my business that i HOPE TO START VERY SOON. lOCATION IS EVERY THING HOWEVER. I spend a lot of time on the road in my current job and as a consequence see many areas that may be of interest. However, finding the right property has been a nightmare. Can you help me with any advise/ hints or tips to try and send a rocket up the agents so that they could work for me a lot harder??? Im running out of time and patience!!!!!!!!!!!! Thankyou for your time. Yours Hopefully, Darren Jenkins

  217. Having watched nearly all of your programs which I thoroughly enjoy, especially the humour and chemistry between the hosts I would like to take part in one of your episodes. I live in Enfield, north London my property is a semi-detached 4 bedroom with drive and on-suite with south facing garden which is a must, this would be in the region of ?500,000 and would like to relocate not very far from where I live, maximum spend would be ?800,000 with similar characteristics. When I first moved into my home 15 years ago I only viewed the house once, then put an offer which was accepted. By the time the first exchange took place I viewed the house again and realised I had made a terrible mistake because it wasn't the character house I was looking for. Since then I have always dreamed of one day moving to the home of my dreams, with todays market I believe it is the right time for me to move. Therefore I would appreciate your kind assistants and knowledge in helping me to do so. Thank you for your time Kind Regards Anthea Eleftheriou

  219. Hi, I need your help to find my mother a new home in Pembroke/ Pembrokesire. She is down sizing after retirement (aged 65) from a stunning country farm house in a prime location in the peak district/cheshire border to be near her daughter. Her current home will bring in a large amount of money and make her a cash buyer a large chunck of which she'll need to bank to live off. We need help to get her to find the ideal property after 35 years in a much loved self renovated home. She has an offer currently she is willing to accept and move into rented accomodation prior to making the final move. Please help us help her! She would be pleased to have some guidance - it is a big decision for her that she can't get wrong!

We are looking to make a sideways move in terms of value but are aware this will mean we will be able to get more for our money. In addition we will need to be within communting distance for Alex to continue working in either London (train) or Surrey (car). Any assistance would be greatly appreciated - our house is about to go on the market and we understand this is still an attractive area for buyers so have high hopes of being in a strong position. 230. Hi Kirsty & Phil, please can you help me? I currently live in the Isle of Wight and have commuted daily for some time to my job in London. However, I no longer have commitments on the Island, so would like to buy a property in London to give me more free time and just keep a small base down here. I sold my house a few months ago and am currently in rented accommodation. I feel in the current market, I might just about be able to make such a move, as London is becoming as affordable as it is ever likely to be for those of us from the sticks. My only problem is that as far as where to buy is concerned, I am a complete London virgin. I know nothing of the nuances of particular post codes or the particular pitfalls of buying up in town. I am by nature a risk taker when it comes to property, but not in unfamiliar places. I monitor sites like RightMove and Find a Property but, without some local knowledge, I have to admit I am completely confused. I would be really grateful for your help.

  238. Dear Kirstie and Phil We are in need of your help. My boyfriend Matt and i are wanting to buy a house at the end of the year. We are first time buyers with a eager deposit waiting for our time to pounce on the current market. I am originally from the Teesside area and moved to London 3 years ago where my boyfriend and i rented in the highly valued Godalming area. A year ago we moved to Bristol, where Matt grew up. We are currently renting close to Bristol city centre, where i work. Matt has his own business and works in the opposite direction on the outskirts of the City. We have a ?160,000 limit with around ?10,000 budget to renovate and make changes. We are both Interior Designers, and our dream is to buy a dying property and to breathe life into it. We are so excited by this venture and feel you can help us make our dream a reality. Kindest regards Leanne Pike

  239. We have a detached property on the north east side of Wetherby (Spofforth Hill), near to the lottery winners who were featured a few years back on your programme. Our current house is growing increasingly small for our expanidng family.. Best intentions of doing a loft conversion were put on hold with the credit crunch, when we realised that that we would be at the very top of the valuation for a house type of this type, and aesthetically.. it would have detracted from the quality of the area. This would have made the property very difficult to sell in the future. Therefore, we are currently in a dilemma.. do we sell and make a loss (i the current market) by not realising the properties real potential, possibly resulting in ourselves going into a rental property until we find a decent sized property in this area (for the sake of schooling and a young family group of friends we would prefer to stay within 5-10 miles of our current location, which is a preference), or do we make our selves more saleable / good position to move, by renting our current property (for which we know there is a good strong market (Ours is a 3 bed detached house in a cul-de-sac, off road parking, 3 reception rooms, utility, en-suite etc.. in a very quite area, very near to the Harland way which is direct access to yorkshire countryside, and good James Herriot air.. equally with good communications with the A1 / York / Leeds and Harrogate) and buying a 4 bed property which fits the bill.. We are not afraid of a bit of work as long as the price is right in the right area without too much disruption.. We also do not mind about walls not being smooth / flat... The but-to-let market is something we have no idea on how to proceed. Our total budget for both properties is approaching 400K, which sounds a lot substantial equity in our current property) but in this area, I challenge Kirsty and Phil to show their worth and help us beat the market and make the best of both worlds, by maximising the rental opportunity in our current house and using the opportunity to move (albeit) slightly up the property ladder in the current market where increasingly, the differential between 3 and 4 bedroom homes is reducing month on month.. We would then aim to utilise our current property as an investment for the future (initially as a rental property, but in the long term (once the market recovers) by selling. I look forward to at least a reply in the first instance, even if its just some good old advice. Many thanks Susan

  243. Hi, where to start? In October 2007 Rog (my husband) and I put our 3 bed semi house in New Eltham, SE London on the market at a modest price. By January 2008 we had had 2 viewings! Our hope at that time was to move up the ladder to either a larger 3 bed with potential or a 4 bed house to accommodate us and our 2 little ones (4 and 2). In February 2008, Rog (who incidentally then was 39) suffered a cardiac arrest as a result of an undetected electrical fault in his heart. He was without a pulse for over 20 mins and was very lucky to survive! Unfortunately though, as a result he suffered a serious brain injury. 10 months on, after many hospitals and rehab units Rog is our miracle and is in talks with his employer about returning to his IT role in the city, we've got everything crossed! If things continue to improve and Rog's income is secure we could be (albeit after a very bumpy ride) back where we were in October 2007 and looking to move. The support I received from local friends, a.k.a the Mums (ante and post natal friends) was unbelievable and has really influenced me in wanting to stay in the area, however, possibly Rog's employer will encourage home working so 'commutability' may not be such an issue and that seems to open up the whole of Kent and Surrey and I don't know where to start! If I win the Euro Millions in the meantime I'll keep you posted, otherwise we're grateful for any help you can give us. Nicole

  244. Dear Kirsty and Phil I am becoming increasing fustrated trying to find an equestrian property which can be run as a business for myself and my husband. I am a qualified riding instructor and my husband is a health and safety advisor. We currently live in Cheshire in a small village which has been wonderful while the children were growing. They are now both taking their GCSEs so we are starting to look to move. If we could find a property that had land of 10acres upwards in a rural hilly location. North Wales, Cumbria, Northumberland etc which needed work for upto 400,000 and keep a small terrace property in Cheshire until the kids finish A levels and move on this would be ideal. I have tried but have only found 1 property on Anglesey which is not an area we want to move to. We are willing to take on any work even rebuild property if we could get the right property. Any help or advice would be gratefully received. Regards Heather & Ian Heywood

  245. My husband and I have just relocated back to the UK after having lived in Spain for the last 7 years. Back in 2001 we were living in Windsor and had very successful careers but fancied a slower pace of life so just upped sticks and left to live in Javea. It was a bit scary at first not having jobs to go to. We were introduced to a local chap, a tiler by trade, who said he could build us a villa cheaper than anyone else in town!!! The gamble paid off and we were so pleased with our new home that we formed a company with him and went on to build another 20 bespoke villas for clients from as far afield as Singapore. A downturn in the market and sons at university has brought us back to England. We are currently renting in Horsham but are looking to move and buy a farmhouse/holiday rentals/caravan site business in either Devon or Cornwall. Primarily we need a home for ourselves with a business combined. Its going to be a huge challenge and massive change of lifestyle but we are very keen and enthusiastic about the idea. After watching many different property programmes over the past few years we feel your help and expertise would be very valuable to us in our new venture. Hope to hear from you very soon as we are needing to move pretty quickly. We want to get something up and running for this season. Jill and Ken Miller

  246. Hi Kirstie and Philip, We are an Italian couple and we currently live in London. We have just relocated from Dublin where we spent 5 years and bought a NEW house (bought off plan) in 2007.Unfortunatelly this has turned out to be a bad investment due to some structural problems ( high level of pyrite in the infill) which have to be fixed by the builder. At the moment we are talking with the solicitor to find the best way to fix this mess ( What a nightmare!!!!)%u2026..... anyway we decided to relocate to London and start fresh, move on and hopefully make the right investment this time....so...we are currently renting in Earl’s Court and we will be looking in to buy a 2 double bedroom apartment in London around October/November 2009.We have a budget of 400K and we want to find an apartment in zone 1 west end. Due to the terrible experience we had with our first property in Dublin we are a bit scared to purchase an house again, however from a financial point of view it makes sense to pay off our mortgage instead of paying the rent.We hope you can help us find a sound financial investment and the perfect gaf for an young couple.Hope to hear from you soon%u2026Luca and Sabrina

  249. Hello Kirstie & Phil I am putting forward my daughter and her partner for this. They have a house in Ascot which they have spent some time 'doing up'. My daughter has recently taken a permanent position in Leeds and they need to move there which will suit them for some years ahead. Her partner has two let properties and my daughter has some cash to help with the Leeds house - but they will still need to sell the Ascot house to get what they really want. Do they sell first and hope their dream house will magically appear or (as the agents are suggesting) find the house and then try to sell the Ascot house, hoping they will get a reasonable price? They need some help from someone who knows what they are doing! Susie (mum of Zoe)

  251. HELP, My girlfriend and I are both desperate to buy our first home. We both work as police officers and due to shift work we are finding time to look for properties very hard. We have been saving now for over a year and really want to buy a small house in the lovely town of St Albans. It almost has to be this town as we need to commute into London for work and have already fallen for the place after several visits. I hope this message finds you, we need help. Adam and Sophie.

  253. What is the matter with the vendors and Agents of Devon and Cornwall? I trawl through the property websites on a daily basis to see the same old houses advertised week in week out - all at last years 'far to high' prices! Nothing is selling but no one seems to be prepared to reduce their price. Why not help us find our ideal holiday home in North Devon - around Woolacombe or Perranporth or Padstow? Do the people of Devon and Cornwall really have their heads buried in their lovely sand. We even have the cash and can't find a bargain!!! Help please!!!!!!

  256. We have a young family and have stayed in the current house for 5 years, our intention to be here was initially for just 2 years, a fast growing internet jewellery business has meant we stayed while we grew the business and settled the children at school. The house has sold, our dream home at the end of our road sold and we can't agree on a house at all. Can you help! Rob is very shy (and tight!) he likes to think he wears the trousers and wants a big garden for his dream of chickens and some off street parking for a mini and a people carrier, I want to be near a good school and near to my office to make my life a bit easier. We are not shy of a bit of work we want a home to grow with our manic life style and be a home for life. As a couple we work very, very hard. We are looking for a semi rural house or even just a house with a min of 3 beds in south Essex, a drive and big garden (of course) Our local estate agents are all in a political coup and we are at the end of the line and need some serious help!

  259. Guys We have a two bedroom semi cottage in Hounslow, owned for 6 years was 2 of us now nearly 4, would like to move to north Buckinghamshire south Northamptonshire into a three/four bed with a garden and cellar as wine is in the blood, preferably village but location is important, access by road to London and Watford. Not sure whether to rent our property as the area is sort after for inexpensive affordable accommodation. I am totally realistic in the economical climate but relish the chance to take professional advice. Flexible about date except 2 or 3 week of March, plan to be moved by the summer...ish. Cheers

  260. We are hoping to downsize! Our Norfolk cottage is well situated in a small village, and we have 30 acres of ancient woodland and water. The Mere and boardwalk are also part of this property! The cottage has 3 woodburners - just cross the bridge at the end of the garden and get your own wood, there are fish in the mere - not edible but good fun for fishing. The shooting rights are in hand. Why would we want to sell up - to give a younger family the chance to enjoy an idyllic lifestyle.

  262. please help.We live on the isle of man where we lived happy until 5 years ago. we have 4 children twins of 24 a boy of 21 and a daughter of 12. In 2000 one of the twins left home to join the navy, i was devastated, then in july 2004 our middle son also left to join the navy again i was devastated in august 2004 our other son was killed whilst living his dream racing on the TT course. This totally destoyed me. As much as i have tryed to move on i feel i need to be with my boys who now live in Portsmouth and Essex, but i feel trapped as we bought our property late in life in a first time buyers scheme and money is tight, although at presant me and my husband have good jobs but feel due to our ages finding new jobs and paying a morgage may be difficult. My son always says you only live once and how true this is so please help us to find a property in England near to both our sons.

  263. My husband and I have just returned from 4 years living (and renting!) in Sydney, Australia. We left London footloose and fancyfree with 2 rucsacs in 2004 and have returned with 2 children - daughters, 20mnths & 3 yrs - Sept 2008, to a life in Blighty dramatically different to the one we'd left. OUR PROPERTY SITUATION is that we are currently renting a converted stable block in Oxfordshire until April 09. In that time we plan to get inspiration, hopefully with the help of RELOCATION RELOCATION, as to what to do and where to move to. We both own a flat in London (mine in Clapham and my husbands in Wandsworth) both bought before we'd met in 2001. The decisions we need to make are: do we sell both flats to buy our family home? do we keep one or both and borrow on them? or after all that do we continue renting as we have done since we've married?!! OUR DREAM: My husbands 'spiritual home' is Cornwall and in an ideal world we would love to buy a small holiday cottage on the Cornish north coast as well as a family home in either OXON/WILTS/HANTS

  264. hello. My husband Lance and my self have always wanted to move to a country with a better climate and more relaxed and friendly lifestyle. this was something we planned for the future, but having fought a hard battle with breast cancer these last 18 months, I feel the need to get on with the next chapter of my life now rather than wait for a future I may not see. Unfortunateley this is not the best of times, with the uncertainty of the housing market, but we thought we might try to market our house in the spring with a view to moving to rural Spain. we are working on the fact that the market there is falling too so the prices will be relative even if our property price falls. Ideally we would like a typically spanish property in or near to a small village. My research has lead me to the Lecrin valley. we would hopefully be morgage free but need to make a modest income and so would have to invest in property to rent long term or as holiday lets or alternatively we would also be keen to run a bed and breakfast or a small finca with guest accomodation and would aim to attract walkers. We would need some land for growing our own fruit and vegetables and keeping some chickens, and would also consider putting everything into a place with olive trees if it could generate enough income. We are quite flexible and open to suggestions but do want to embrace the lifestyle and are looking for typical spanish property. The Lecrin Valley seems well situated for walking, skiing in the winter and is close enough to the beaches and airports too.( we want it to be cheap and easy for friends and family to visit) But we would consider other areas if they were better value for money and still well connected to airports however we do feel this is a safe area as it does not seem to be effected by land grab laws. we currently live in a small hamlet in cambridgeshire.

  266. Hi Kirsty and Phil, my boyfriend and I are planning to move from a 1950's semi in suburban Reading to a more glamourous cosmopolitan lifestyle in central Bath. Ideally spending about 230000 - 250000. The north of Bath would suit us best to be close to the M4. We just love the beautiful georgian townhouse apartments, and although have always had plenty of garden and parking, are willing to give this up for a slice of city living. We hope you can help us find a sound financial investment with bags of character! Sarah and Mike x

  268. Relocation, Relocation you might just be able to change our lives for good. My wife and I live in the North East of England with our 3 children aged 3,4 years and 4month old.We have a strong desire to relocate to France within a 50 mile radius of Bergerac.Having travelled through the region we fell in love with the people and countryside. We are currently in the process of selling our 2 bed apartment in the Costa Del Sol and once this is complete, will sell the family home in England. Our budget would be in the region of 300,000 to 450,000 Euros .Ideally we need a minimum 4 bedroom house with plenty of land. A business attached would be of extra interest, we are an adventurous family and can turn our hand to almost anything no matter how extreme! Renovation work required, no problem we have already done it on a previous property. Obviously a good school is an important requirement. With or without work I have a constant monthly income which we could comfortably live on. I currently work very long hours with my current occupation and realise I am missing life with my family and need to spend more time with them. Natalie and I are completely engaged in this move and need to make it happen within the next year. So, Phil and Kirstie this is not just a place in the sun we are looking for, we want to relocate, relocate. Please can you help us? Kind Regards Mark Raby

  269. we have been looking for 3 years for an equistrian property and needs help to find the right one. We would relocate to west or east sussex so near to my childrens schools it would be a great oppertunity to make an equistrian business for example diy liveries and possible a bed and brakfast. My highest budget is £700.000. The property will have to have an income of it. It would be lovely to have 4 bedrooms and more than 2. As my other half is a builder he could build stables but the loacation and land matters. Please, Please Help?

  272. My husband and I bought a house in Campbeltown, Argyll when I got offered a job I couldn't refuse (now in for 1 year) but my husband still works in the city - Glasgow and comes home at weekends. With the credit crunch we are paying a fortune in rent for Glasgow and would like to find a bargain in buying a flat. It would also be good for a development project in Glasgow that would make a profit in the future. We did get one offer accepted on a flat but it was subject to survey, it then fell through due to bad survey. We have a limited budget but need help!
