The recession is looming large in everyone's minds, so what better time to learn how to decorate your home creatively and, best of all, affordably?

Now, a new series coming soon from Kirstie Allsopp will show you how. The show, Kirstie's Homemade Home, will follow Kirstie as she transforms a dilapidated country cottage in Devon into the ultimate homemade home, using traditional methods and crafts.

In each episode, Kirstie will use a range of crafts to decorate and accessorise the home, and visit auction houses to furnish it - as well as hunting out reclaimed pieces to restore. Kirstie will also get practical, learning how to sew cushions and make mosaics.

Along the way she'll meet craftspeople - from furniture makers and antique restorers to glass blowers and flower arrangers - who keep the great British traditions alive, and she'll be talking to some well known names in the crafts world.

Kirstie says, 'I want to prove that you can create something unique and wonderful using amazing artisans from the West Country and around the UK rather than going down the same old mass produced route. I think it is possible to budget sensibly and buy British and I'm keen to show that.'

  2. I am in stiches again! Twenty years ago I bought a book called 'How to make a Roman Blind'. I had too as I was nearly thrown out of W.H.Smiths. I laughed till I cried. What came to my mind was 'Poke him in the eye with a sharp stick!'. On opening the book I also found 'How to make a Venetian Blind'. My children think I'm nuts, but it still makes me laugh.

  6. I am from Canada and I watch Kirstie all the time on the BBC here in Canada. I would love to watch her new show especially the stained glass panel episode. Will I be able to see this show in Canada? I love Location Location and Relocation. Thanks.

  7. Hi,The show sounds great and just what is needed in these times;also it is fabulous that kirstie is to be back on screen with a new show. The Question is; when will we see the show in Australia,if at all? Would love to see more of Kirstie and her bubbly out there personality. Mgt Brisbane Qld.
