Lucy: 'You majorly overshot your budget - did it all just get a bit out of control?'
Matt: ‘Yes - I think that we were quite naive in our estimations and there are always things you forget about or don't have time to do yourself and have to pay someone for.'
Lucy: 'What advice would you give to would-be developers?'
Matt: 'Expect a renovation job to be equally taxing and time-consuming as a nine to five job - the benefit is that you're your own boss. And expect to go over budget!'
Lucy: 'IF you did it again, what would you do differently?'
Matt: 'We DEFINITELY wouldn't live in the project again! Even if we had to live in the garden shed we would, just to be able to escape from the project once in a while and not have to wake up in a building site!'
