Back in 2009, the Davidson family from Essex moved to Perth to get a better work-life balance. But with over 3,000 British expats returning back home every year, clearly a life in the sun doesn't always live up to the dream - as Phil discovers.
Being 10,000 miles from home Lee and Bronagh have faced waves of home sickness. However, despite the challenges they've managed to make a successful life in Australia - and Phil's on hand to get this family's surprising secrets to making it work.
The Original Search
Lee and Bronagh have decided to leave behind their four bedroom house in the suburbs of Essex. They're after a considerably more roomy four bedroom house halfway across the world.
Desperate for a new life for themselves and their three daughters, they have enlisted Phil to secure them their perfect piece of Aussie real estate in sunny Perth, Western Australia.
Phil needs to find four fine homes to show the Davidsons. Dad Lee wants outside barbecue space and a swimming pool, while Bronagh is keen on being close to a beach. Lee's also hoping for a short commute after leaving behind three hours of daily traffic in the UK.
Armed with a budget of £287,000, Mr Spencer tracks down four large family homes, and two in particular catch the eye. Lee and Bronagh are faced with a difficult choice: expansive garden and a spectacular swimming pool, or a bigger house closer to the beach?
