Phil: Location, Location, Location is a show in which people come to us for help in buying property for fairly practical reasons. Obviously nobody wants to lose money, but it’s not a show about speculation and quick-in, quick-out money-making. We tend to work for people who need homes, and they need some help in finding and choosing a home and negotiating a price.
We’ve been making the show for the best part of nine years and have done over 200 shows, and I don’t think you’d find a programme where we have not talked about adding value, buying sensibly, not stretching, and looking for a property that is a long-term option. Those are very standard pieces of advice that we have handed out to everybody. Through thick and thin, through boom and now through bust, property is a long-term option and if you buy a property where you can add value, a property that you can stay in for five years, a property that’s flexible and can change as you change, then you’ve done well. Hopefully you’ve paid the right price and done the right deal, and those are things that we genuinely help people with.
I don’t believe that we’ve fuelled anything. I would hope that we’ve helped people to get better property, make better decisions and pay better prices. We have a culture of home ownership in this county, and we have a huge interest in property, so we’ve made a programme to capitalize on that, but we were reacting to a trend rather than creating one.
Phil: She’s very well – I saw her last week. She’s just finishing up one of her house searches for the programme, and is on frighteningly good form considering that she only had her baby about eight weeks ago. She looks terrific as ever!
How have you been affected by the house price slump. Let us know below. We are sorry, Phil cannot answer all your questions personally.
