In the Wirral, fancy-dress shop owner Gary Wakefield and his civil servant wife Nicky are known to their friends as the fussiest house-hunters in the country.
They've already sold their last house and are now living in rented accommodation, but after 18 months of searching, this picky pair haven't found the right place.
Gary and Nicky are looking for a big house in the right area. They'd like three double bedrooms, a big garden - and to be within the catchment area of only the best schools.
But that's going to push their £350,000 budget to the limit.
Of the three houses that Kirstie and Phil showed Gary and Nicky, they were torn between two: a three bed in footballers’ paradise Gayton and a four bed character property in Little Sutton.
It’s posh postcode versus lavish legroom and they hoped a second look at Little Sutton would help make up their minds. But just 10 minutes on the main drag was enough to make Gary and Nicky realise that location was still top of their list. Although the house was just what Nicky wanted, and was five minutes away from two great schools, they just couldn't compromise on the location.

And as for the Gayton house? The couple were sure that, although Gayton was the right location, the house there was overpriced by around £50,000. But other buyers didn’t agree and the Gayton property ended up selling for almost £30,000 more than Gary and Nicky predicted, leaving them right back where they started.
By refusing to compromise on their impossible brief, it's possible that their dream home may remain just that.
