Our search this week takes us right into Derby City and out into the stunning countryside, in the southeast of the Peak District.
This is where our first couple, Bryony and Daniel Burton, have shifted to from London with their daughter, Ruby. At the moment, they’re staying in their small holiday home in Buxton until they find the perfect property in the Peak District, a beautiful area that has seduced Daniel and Bryony away from city living.
As a busy accountant, Daniel needs good travel links to both London and Cheshire so he can make the best of family time. And although Bryony is foregoing a career in publishing, she still has business on the mind. She'd like to build up a small accommodation business.
Finding a property in a national park that hasn’t already been converted into holiday lets is going to be tough. Oh, and there is one other small matter... they have another baby on the way.
They’ve got a budget of just £400,000 to buy in one of the most popular areas of England. It needs to be in a rural location, near enough to Daniel’s work for him to commute, with four bedrooms - and some outbuildings for a holiday let.
Bryony and Daniel loved the last place they saw; a listed farmhouse in Wardlow. They're not fazed by the idea of a renovation project and there's even a cottage for sale next door, owned by the same people, that they could purchase for holiday lets.

After further investigation, Bryony and Daniel decide to go for the farmhouse, but not Stable Cottage, and their offer of £300,000 - that’s £20,000 under the asking price - is accepted.
Five months later, however, son Gedd has entered their lives but, unable to pin down a timescale and costs for the renovation, they have had to let Hall Farm - and their dream of life in the countryside - go.
