These hapless househunters have been struggling to find a new pad for a massive 18 months, and while they've stood still the market has moved on. This means that their £200,000 budget will buy considerably less now than it would at the start of the search.
Scott and Jakki needed loads of space with a baby on the way and two businesses to run from home. And finding a house in the south east of England that has five bedrooms and costs just £200,000 isn't easy.
The house I finally found for them is a beauty, with two reception rooms, a large kitchen/breakfast room and lots of space on all three floors. And what's more, it was the only property we saw that had the elusive fifth bedroom.
It's an outstanding house and there was loads of interest, so sticking in a quick bid at £208,000 was a good move given that Jakki and Scott had the money ready to go, weren't part of a chain and the rival bidders didn't have their finances in place.
On the whole, it was definitely worth pushing £8,000 over budget to secure a real family home with bags of charm and character, plus the space needed for baby Texas to grow up in.
