Once again it's fun and games in the property playground with two demanding couples, but the pursuit for the perfect pad brings pleasure, and if they’re not careful... pain!
This week it's another chance to see what happened when Phil and Kirstie went to Chelmsford and the surrounding areas. Just 45 minutes from central London, this part of Essex is increasingly popular with commuters looking for stunning countryside just a stones throw from the capital. Two couples with two very different budgets - but the same brief - were looking for that elusive dream pad.

Our first set of house hunters, thrill seekers Steve and Dee, were finally in a position to live the high life. After years of building up Steve's business, selling experience days over the internet, they were ready to make the huge leap from their 1960s three bedroom home to a million pound luxury pad. And as if that’s not enough, computer whiz Steve had systematically compiled a spreadsheet!
It contained an exhausting list of property requirements. And not only that but Steve and Dee’s search area was tiny; a mere five mile radius from where they currently lived.
With their million pound budget they were after five bedrooms with lots of entertaining space, set in at least 3/4 of an acre. They wanted the character of period property but with a neutral decor. Remarkably, the stipulations didn’t end there...

The second set of house hunters were first time buyers 25 year old recruitment consultant Aidan and his 22 year old radiographer girlfriend Luise. After years of renting they were ready to put down roots and create a family home where Aidan's daughter Kira could spend half her time. But despite having viewed over 20 properties, that elusive wow factor was still eluding them.
At least girlfriend Luise had got her feet on the ground, and was far more realistic about the kind of place they could afford on their £175,000 budget. Aidan and Luise were after a spacious two bedroom flat with a safe secure garden where Kira could play. But was the wow factor Aidan wanted out of reach for these first timers?
