  1. We have lived the good life in Normandy, France for about 12 years, renovating and letting holiday gites to Brits (mostly). But the call of family gets stronger as we get older (Gill 61 & Tom 63). However, daughter is in New Zealand, son in UK! So, half and half it is! But eventually we'll have to be based in England as the joys of air travel wane. We've sold the gites and are off to NZ in Jan to search out a wee house on the Hibiscus Coast. Later in the year we will start to seek out a suitable house within 90 mins of our sons home in Farnham, Surrey. We're flexible, looking for 3 bed village home so we can have the grandkids over. Budget about £350K. Trouble is, we don't know where to look first as we are out of the UK property loop. We love the programme and admire Kirstie and Phils' good humoured but honest attitude to their punters. Help!

  2. Quick message to everyone who would love to have Kirstie and Phil find a home for them...There are professionals out there who do what Kirstie and Phil do ie help you find your ideal home. Google buying agent or home finder. Obviously you have to pay them, and you don't get to be on TV, but if you're relocating from abroad or to a new area or just haven't got the time, a home finder can be a godsend. In the US up to 50 percent of people use a home finder. We Brits are just a bit slow to catch on that the estate agent is working for the VENNDOR and not for you!

  3. We live in NZ but think about returning to UK. Our trouble is that we are 70 and still don't know where we want to live. We have emigrated 3 times, twice to Canada and once to NZ. Both beautiful countries. Canada wrong time in our lives, NZ, too bloody far from everywhere. We have more family in the UK. We have an amazing place here but look at your programmes and think, well maybe we can still find something interesting in UK. Budget? Could be anything from 300 to 500,000 sterling. Maybe even more if it had an income. We are are very fit duo. Would be interested in a response. You could come to NZ and stay with us in this amazing place and discuss it!!!!!

  6. Hi Guys, Need your help to find a perfect home from home. We recently sold our family home in the Cotswolds now that our children have (finally) flown the nest and we plan to retire to New Zealand. However we'd still like to fly back once or twice a year to visit. There are 6 of us, but with 4 grown up children we'd ideally like a character 2 to 3 bedroom home in the Cotswolds. Ideally rentable or "lettable" as a holiday home in the down time. We have a budget of 300,000 for our new UK base, and would certainly consider a renovation project, as we converted large parts of our last house from an animal barn to family living space. We have already sold our home for 850,000. If you fancy helping us find a home in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand... we'd love you to join us! I'll leave you to discuss who would get that trip! We look forward to hearing from you both. hoping you can help Liam, Caroline, & the Byrne Family x

  7. We are currently renting in Surrey having moved from Devon in September '09. We are expecting our first child in March and would ideally like to be in our home by the time the baby arrives. I would like to stay in Surrey but my husband works in North London so we would need a mainline link into London for him. We have looked at many properties but haven't found the right place yet within our budget. We are first time buyers and very eager in moving and really need your help. Many thanks.

  8. Dear Kirsty and Phil, Please help ! We are trying to sell our house. An updated 4 bed, 2 bathroom, 4 reception room with kitchen/breakfast room, walkin pantry etc etc with 10 acres, large detached barn can have up to 28 more acres! BUT there is road noise, worse at certain times of the day, which is putting every one off. We are surrounded by trees and you cannot see the road at all from the house or land. Can you help ? We live about 8 miles from Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Any advice would be helpful We have been on the market for 1 year. I do understand that this is the wrong way round you are normally trying to find properties for clients, but maybe you have a client who is looking for their ideal retreat in the country and would not mind a little road noise. Thank you

  9. Hi Kirstie and Phil My husband and I are first time buyers and having been lifelong renters are as scared as anything about entering the property market at such an uncertain time. We have been gifted a generous deposit and are ready to start looking for a house to buy. Its the first time we have even thought about owning a home and have no idea where to start. Help! We love being in London, but don't for the first time we have to decide where to settle permanently. We think South West would be good, and want to start looking at Tooting, Balham, Clapham and Battersea - but could be stretching our budget when there is no need to. Eek - please help! Thanks Jacqui & Stuart Barr

  10. Hi Kirsty and Phil, Im a 25yr old primary school teacher working in a school near Brick Lane in East London, at present I am paying a phenomenal amount of rent and wish to get out of this trap and buy my own 2 bed flat. I would like to live in Bethnal Green or London Fields, ideally within walking distance of some shops and bars and a tube/train station. My budget is appox 175000 and Im open to different options such as part ownership, key worker schemes or buying a flat that requires work. Thanks

  11. Hi Kirstie & Phil, I'm Hana, 35, and I'm 3 months pregnant. My husband and I sold our 3 bed house in Greenwich in August and are living in a rented flat as we just couldn't find anywhere. We also don't have a clue where to go, we like Tunbridge Wells - but prices are almost as bad as London's. We want a house with great potential, preferably a renovation project, close to commuter links, a nice local community - village or small town, with good schools, and not far from civilisation and still within an 1hr or so of London. Wld like something with character, ideally for £300k mark. We don't ask for much! We really don't mind where we go, maybe we gravitate towards Kent because we're in south east London, but I've heard there are some lovely parts of Cambridgeshire which have fast links to Kings Cross and are relatively cheap. It's really difficult looking at lots of different places as what may seem like a bargain may actually be comparitively overpriced. I work for a well known giftware design company so i do have an eye for quality, my husband is very practical and feels now he's approaching 40 he could potter about in a nice garden and maybe get a ride on lawn mower! We don't always see eye to eye so your diplomatic skills will be tested. But we're fun and genuinely want to find our dream home, more importantly in the dream location, where we can stay and ideally build on rather than move in future years. Either up through a loft, an extension, and maybe an outbuilding. As long as we don't have to carry out all the work at once as we never want to stretch ourselves financially again..., but have to say we'd consider living in a caravan on site if need be. Very excited about the prospect you could help us find somewhere before the birth! Thank you, Hana x

  12. We are in need of some help and advise. We have been looking for a house in the Kenilworth area for the past two years. Our requirements are quite restricting and wondered if you could make some suggestions. I have a grand piano as well as another piano and keyboard so need an active music room - ie reception room 3. There are only the two of us so we don't need a large number of bedrooms. We have 3 cars and need a double garage. Our budget is between 300 and 400k

  13. My wife Christine and I have recently returned to the Uk following 9 years expatriation in China, Hungary and Poland. I have worked with my company Michelin for over 40 years. I am currently living and working in Dundee Scotland until I retire in November 2010. We intend to return to our family area which is Stoke-on-Trent. We are cash buyers looking for a final home for our retirement. I am almost 59 and will retire at 60 next year. Ideally we are looking for a 3 to 4 bedroom, large garage, utility etc. Our main problem is that living and working in Dundee does not allow us much time to look and search and we are desperate to get advice and to see properties that suit our needs. So far we have travelled from Poland (our last expatriation) with the sole purpose of looking for and buying a house, but pictures never seem to tell the whole story. We have also travelled down from Scotland a couple of times but again we are finding it very difficult due to the fact that what is actiually said is not always correct. Having watched your programme regularly since arriving back in the Uk it would be wonderful to go and see houses that suit our needs because having someone that understands what we want would help enormously.I am currently renting in Scotland and in the situation that we could purchase anytime between now and November next year. What is important to understand is that we must have a house to live in before I retire.as all our possessions are currently in Storage. Lastly we are very flexable .

  14. Dear Kirsty & Phil, After 2 years of trying we finally managed to sell our home at the end of September (at a much reduced price to the original valuation). We have previously missed out on properties we both loved as we were not in a position to move, so in an effort to become more attractive to would be sellers we have moved into rental accomodation while we continue to search for the right home.....2yrs of searching and still counting! We do not have too many restrictive requirements (where have you heard that before) for our next property, but would like to remain in the local catchment area for the school our two daughters attend and an excellent secondary school,(CB23). Please would you help us in our search for a nice family home within our budget of £550K. Many thanks Richard and Kerry Williams

  15. I simply cannot miss an episode and now we're thinking of moving, we would have the perfect challenge for Kirsty and Phil. My husband and I have really different tastes and we have two energetic springers and a horse to re-house!! We live and work in Herts and are prepared to travel up to 40 minutes to work. We have a four bed detatched house which we'd like to exchange for a four bed detached house with acreage and stables. We need to be near a train station and good road links. A pub within walking distance is a must as too are good schools in preparation for a family. We have been looking for ages and are unable to find anything suitable within budget - please Kirsty and Phil, can you work your magic???

  17. The Surrey Advertiser carried a front page article which said you are looking for a 2-3 bed semi-detatched period house in central Guildford for the programme. Several people told me that my house, which is on the market, fits the bill in all particulars except it is on a main road. Maybe this is the compromise the buyers need to make??? Have thrown the paper away but if you are interested, please contact by returning this mail

  21. Hi, We are currently looking at options to sell our 4 bed detached house in Middlesbrough and are considering marketing it ourselves. We wondered if you would be interested in featuring the 'alternative way to sell ' and giving your viewerws in insight into what and what not to do when selling your property without an estate agents. Hopefully there will be a successful sale at the right price to feature - an interesting approach that your viewers may be interested in especially with the credit crunch. Would Kirsty and Phil dare to appear in Middlesbrough after the 'worst place to live' saga!!! The challenge is on! In anticipation....Diane

  24. Hi, my daughter who was born in a warm sunny climate is desperately looking for a 'warm' property in the Wallingford (Oxon) area before the winter sets in again. She is renting and has very little capital but a place to buy would be great or to rent if this isn't possible. Where she lives at present is old, damp and cold! She also has the added 'problem' although she doesn't think he is, of a rather large greyhound who she won't leave! You always seem to show people from the home-counties with plenty of cash or a good deposit so my daughter would not only prove a huge challenge for you but perhaps even a miracle! I've sent her the links to your pages here but she's not as extrovert as her mom! She really needs help and I would appreciate it for her. I would also like to know if there are any costs involved in you helping or does she get paid for appearing on your show (that would be a bonus):)...I don't want to give too much added personal information on a public website but look forward to hearing something from you ....thank you. A concerned mom.

  25. Caroleburton...several lovely places to chose from in North West that are near to Salford. Worsley is a nice little village (with local pubs, restaurants and the canal on your doorstep) but minutes away from the motorway linking you to Salford, Manchester, Liverpool easily. It has a lovely green with a nice foot bridge and its where the canal starts. Roe Green is about 5 minutes away from here and is gorgeous (i'm biased as that's where I live!). It has a lovely little park on the green if you have children. It has several little greens and is next to the woods and is right near St Marks school which still has a real villagey feel. There is also Bridgewater school if you wanted to go private. Both of these places are right on the doorstep of Salford due to the motorway and also near to the trafford centre. Slightly further afield there are also a lot of nice villages up near bolton and chorley that would be around 20-30 minutes commute. Hope that helps.

  34. Hello My name is rajinder,I was born in Barking Essex 38 years ago and move away when I joined the Royal Marines 13 years ago. My wife Sophie was born in Bristol and moved down to a village near Plymouth when she was 8 years old. We have been together for 2 ? years and have recently married,we have a 16month old son and are expecting our second child very shortly. My wife is a staff nurse at the royal London hospital in White chapel. And I am still in the Royal Marines and serving the London area, we moved up from the south west 2 years a go when I was posted to London. We have been looking for some months now but have been unsuccessful so far. As I grew up in Essex, as I know this part of London well and still have family there. We're looking for a place in East London/Essex within easy commuting for my wife's work. We would be interested in a property in a different side of London (e.g. in the west) so my wife's family could visit with ease. But we have a very limited knowledge of what areas would be suitable for our needs . We want this move to be our last until our children have grown up. We want a 3 to 4 bedroom family home with a large garden. a garage to the side would be preferred should we need to extend the property in years to come. A good primary and secondary school near by would be nice as well. We would be interested in a project if it is under our budget and keeps the stamp duty down to 1 ? percent. Our budget is 200.000 to 280.000 can you help, i hope so! Raj and Sophie

  43. Dear Kirstie & Phil,I'm a single working mother and live in a 3 bed semi in Wombwell, Barnsley S73, and currently rent a 4 acre field for my 3 ponies and some chickens about 2 miles away. I am looking for a property of 3 beds to enhance my lifestyle and having my ponies to hand on site, I would love the challenge to self build if you could help with a small plot with the same values and I'm not adverse to a renovation project either. Ideally I am looking for something with land or adjacent to farmland or greenbelt which may be available to buy or rent located in surrounding villages from my hometown. The hardest thing will be of course budget and location as I do not want to move very far away from my elderly mother. I have looked at estate agents, but most do not show any interest of what I am exactly looking for and just try to pursuade me to put my own on the market straight away. They can help with only just a house! I am hoping you might be able to throw some light on properties within my reach. Kind regards Val Matthews

  44. Dear Kirstie & Phil, We're in a bit of a pickle, my partner david and i have recently agreed an offer so we can sell our house it was only on the market 7days so now we're looking to move back to his parents, great to save money but not so great for our relationship. we understand the markets a little slow but not even the estate agents can offer any interesting houses. we're looking to buy a 3bed house or cottage in the suffolk area with a bit of land for our chickens and two dogs. This is becoming harder than we thought. we re happy with looking at places to renovate and as far as we're concerned more character the better but cant find anything that ticks our boxes just wondered if you can help? we would be ever so grateful! many thanks Tara Goshawk xxx

  45. I am in a difficult position in so far as I have been divorced nearly 2 years and still live in the marital home with my ex husband as we are having difficulty selling. I live in York and have a 4 bedroomed detached house which is in need of some cosmetic update but otherwise in sound condition. Please please can you help me find a buyer and get me out of this horrendous situation? Thank you.

  46. Dear Kirsty/Phil. My husband retired last year (aged 60). We planned to move to Devon but couldn't sell our house. We've now accepted an offer so, Kingsbridge, here we come. Or we would if we could find anything suitable. Nothing the agents are sending us is fitting the bill. My husband is very much like Kirsty - 'see a wall, knock it down' but I want something more ready to live in. We've already renovated our last 2 homes, can't face doing it again and the reason for moving to Devon is for a more relaxed lifestyle. We're going to Kingsbridge on 13th March for a 2-week serious house-hunt. Would love you to join us and have the benefit of your experience.

  53. Hi Phil and Kirstie!! an unusual request and maybe a first for Location, Location. I am representing a Church in Brooklands, Sale Manchester. We have recently sold our Church manse and we now need to invest some money in a new Church manse. We think maybe now is a good time to try and acquire a property that can be used for a Manse or rented for a small monthly income for the Church. What do you think?!

  59. Dear Kirsty and Phil, I am in big trouble as a result of loosing 2 jobs 3 weeks ago I will very shortly have No Money at all. I have told the bank that I cant afford my mortgage and they have given me 3 more weeks to pay this months payment. i have been on interest only for years now and I cant have another payment holiday. i need to know what happens next? My house is on the market for a very good price of £269,950. 3 bed detached in west sussex. It does need an injection of cash though and it has also been underpinned in 1999. Built in 1965 and is on a lovely elivated corner plot, close to all amenities. If the value of the house is £269,950 I have app. £180,000 equity! not bad I know, but, what will happen now? will the house go the to recievers and get sold for next to nothing leaving me with a lot less equity? or will it be sold by the bank at a good price so that I may have enough to buy again in a cheaper area? Should I put the house on the market for a lot less say....£199,000 just to get it sold before the bank sells it? Kind regards a very desperate Margart Berry

  61. I am a yoga teacher and have been given the opportunity to open a yoga studio, a long time ambition of mine, in the West London area. I also work for British Airways as cabin crew and have spent the last 15 years visiting and practicing yoga in some of the best studios around the world. A good venue would be an old warehouse or open plan office space but I did wonder about the conversion of a public house. I am sure there is a suitable premise somewhere in West London but I am finding it difficult to find. Can you help please?

  62. Hi Phil & Kirstie, My partner and I can't just get enough of your programme. We watched every episode every week. We just love your programme so much!!! and It did help us a lot when we were looking for property last year. The chemistry between you guys are amazing. Keep up the good work and We are actually missing it as we havent seen your programme on CHannel 4 recently. When we were looking for property last year I did suggest to my partner if we can ask your expert advise but unfortunately he doesnt want to appear on TV. He is very shy I guess. We got a place end of last year in Hampshire and I guess we made the wrong decision and it start to bite us now. We want to move back to closer London due to lots of reason.... one of it is being close to friends and work. Do you think it is the right time to move? We saw on telly about "swap to go" website where you can swap private homes... I'm not quite sure if that the way forward. HELP!! Alex

  63. Hi Kirsty & Phil I hope you guys are both well! Would you guys ever come out to Australia to do a Christmas special or something? Me and my partner are both Brits and are now living in Sydney just by the harbour. I've been here for 5 years and he's been here for 4 years and we're first home buyers and watch your show over here - you've gotta love UKTV! We're either looking to buy 2 properties (1 each) or 1 big property in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney and you guys would be a great help to get on that great big property ladder... We're both 30 so its about time! There are a few differences to buy a property over here but all exciting plus its sunny and warm, great resteraunts, harbour views gallore and a few kanheroos thrown in for good luck! I can see lots of great shots by harbour, opera house and the beaches - it would be a ratings winner... plus it would be a great junket for you guys! Come to Sydney! We need your help!!!!! Happy days Nathan

  66. As a 25 year old young professional working for a Professional Services Firm, I am looking for a first time buy flat in SW London with my boyfriend of 4 years (also working in the city). We have a budget of between £150,000 - £280,000 and a 10-14% mortgage in savings, and are in the initial stages of getting a mortgage agreed. Both of us grew up in the country and are looking for somewhere we can call home with some outside space to get away from the metropolis of London in the week. I was diagnosed with Arthritis 7 years ago and this means I have mobility problems, so ideally we would like to see flats with excellent public transport links - busses and overland trains etc. We are both incredibly busy and work very long hours, which has somewhat limited our success so far! As a motivated and dedicated pair, we are up for a challenge and would be prepared to look at development opportunities/weekend projects! As loyal viewers of your programme, we need you to show us the variety of property that is available in London with all our various requirements! Even if we are unable to appear on your programme, we would be most grateful for any tips for searching for property development opportunities. Many thanks, Emily Harris

  67. Dear Kirsty and Phil< I am a wee Scottish lass who has recently moved from a lovley two bedroomed flat in a small village in Abernethy to the big smoke of London. I am currently looking to buy a two double bedroomed property in SW London,I need to be within commuter distance of my work which is in Tadworth. I am having trouble deciding where to buy as I am not familiar with London and would love your expertise in this area. I think my story would be interesting as I am moving to the big smoke from a rural setting, as most people do it the other way around!
