Kirstie: About Kirstie Allsopp

Kirstie Allsopp's rich background includes a period spent in India teaching English. Upon returning to the UK she worked for Country Living and Food & Homes Magazines, gained a wealth of experience within the interior design field at Hindlip & Prentice Interiors and studied the History of Art at Christie's - all of which have helped give Kirstie an eye for detail when viewing properties.

Kirstie founded Kirmir Property Search, striving to find the perfect property for every client and making it as painless a process as possible. However, once her television career took off she left the company to write books, contribute to countless charities and to become a mum.

Kirstie co-presents Location, Location, Location and Relocation, Relocation for Channel 4 as well as being a regular contributor to magazines, television programmes and she continues to make her views on UK housing policy very very clear!

  1. Hi Kirsty, I'm an Aussie from Queensland and love your programs. Keep up the great work. We love seeing what people buy and why Would love to see some follow ups of the ones that didn't buy and what they did eventually buy Thanks again for all the great entertainment

  3. I too would like to know if Kirstie is any relation to Sophie Allsopp of the Unsellables. They bare a stricking resemblance.

  4. G'day from Queensland Australia. I love your programme and always watch when it is on. I always get a laugh from the people you are trying to help. Is it an english trait to complain and moan about the houses you find them? You always seem to have clients who just can't be pleased. I sometimes think that you could show them Buckingham Palace and they would find something wrong with it. Do people forget they are on television?

  5. Hi Kirsty Love the programme...we recently put an offer on a house which has since had a structural survey and come back with 'Underpinning'. Should we cut our loses and walk away, or renegotiate on price as we/EA were unaware? Please advise as forums suggest steer clear because of insurance premiums and resell. However there is the emotional bond eating away. Any advice much appreciated David

  8. Hi Kirsty, we bought a 1930's 3 bedroom end of terrace in South London in 2007 and are planning to move in about 4 years. We were planning to knock down the wall between the kitchen (12'1x 7'7)and the dining room (17'9x 11'5) to create one room. Would we get the amount we spend back or should we just keep the two rooms separate and replace the existing kitchen units? I would really appreciate your opinion. Many thanks

  9. I live in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. I look for your videotaped shows on hgtv.ca and just love them. Kirstie and Phil are top notch and although the house prices make me breathless I love the whole environment that they create. Do people actually pay these prices in Britain???? I can't imagine as the prices here are way different. I live in a smallish city, in a desirable west side neighbourhood; we have lots of small houses - about 1,000 to 1,700 square feet and the prices range from $160,000 to $230,000.00. I can't believe that people in Britain actually can afford the prices that you are showing. Wow!!!!!!! All I can say is good luck.

  11. Hello Kristie! First off....you are fabulous! I love the way you speak your mind. One question about a new show in our area of British Columbia ,Canada. We have a new design show with a female host with the name Sophie Allsopp.Without sounding extremely stupid, any relationship to you? ( I am willing to bet it is a pretty common name no doubt?) When you stop shaking your head in laughture you might excuse my Canadian ignorance! I just love you both. Thankyou for making every morning while I have my coffeee and dream of living in your country !Patti Dell

  12. Kirsty and Phil did a programme about Hastings and St Leonards in 2007. Because of this programme we took the plunge and escaped the rat race, sold our house in Berkshire at the peak. We now have a lovely Grade 11 listed flat with private gardens %u2013 and NO Mortgage! St Leonards is undergoing a dramatic regeneration with artists, designers and media people moving here from London and Brighton. The Jerwood Foundation are opening a wonderful gallery in Hastings in 2010, new independent shops are opening, cafes, boutique hotels, restaurants and there are masses of cultural events to go to from music concerts to art exhibitions. Fantastic local produce, including fresh fish from the fishermen who land their boats daily on the beach at Hastings. We have a wonderful range of architecture and a fabulous shoreline, surrounded by beautiful countryside. There have recently been very positive articles in the Telegraph, Times, Independent newspapers, Country Living and Coast magazine. All this is due to the Kirsty and Phil effect, and we would just like to say thank you %u2013 if it had not been for the programme we would never have moved here.

  16. Hi Kirstie! I absolutely LOVE your shows! My husband and I live in Sydney Australia and I just love the chemistry between you and Phil! We have two questions for you! Firstly, we are a bit behind in your series in Australia. I think we are still on 2006 episodes! How many childen do you have? My reason for asking is that all the episodes we seem to catch show you as being pregnant!! And secondly, the other question is, we are dying to know what your relationship is to Phil? My husband and I discuss that one a lot! We've come to the conclusion you are not married to each other, but are you brother/sister-in-law instead? I am so glad to see on your website you have episodes through 2008! It means - seeing as we're still on 2006 episodes - that we'll get to see a few more years yet of the two of you!!

  18. I really liked the most recent show and was disappointed to hear Kirstie looking up her name on search engines with the word "fault". I think Phil and Kirstie do a great job and they are the only property show I watch (a though job seeing as my wife is addicted to property shows!). Everyone had to take responsisbility for their own investment decisions and it's ridiculous to blame property show hosts when things don't go 100%. This downturn is a great opportunity to move from daft speculation to proper investment for positive cashflow. I plan to continue to invest for the long term and hope Phil and Kirstie keep providing their insights and food for thought. Keep it up guys ! Mike. Ireland

  20. Any chance of you helping us to find a bungalow? We have been searching for 2 years now and my husband always finds something wrong with the property and won't buy. We are both in our 60s (and have been in our house for 35 years). I think the time to move is now if we are going to change. We are presently living in a house which I think may be too much later on in life. I have tried various techniques, even constant bombardment of properties to see, but I am having difficulty trying to get him to change.

  21. Hi everyone - especially those of you from abroad. Great to hear from you! Sorry I haven't been answering your questions - it's been hectic over here - we've got lots of new shows that hopefully will make it your side of the pond! Kirstie, I think, had another boy and all is well. Council tax bands - Brenda - these are based on the value of your house and are set by the local council. If you go to the website of the council for the area you are interested in buying in, you'll no doubt find info there. Failing that, try the government's website - it's all there.

  22. Hello, I hope you can help. Portugese property. We have a little 2 bedroom house on the West Algarve. It has spectacular views of the bay, the beach, and inland, the mountains of Monchique. Our problem is that the algarve is getting too crowded. The village where our house is, is being ever more built round and there is a rumor of another large development to the North of the village. We feel we need to move North. Not so far that we miss out on the good climate. The "Silver" coast seems to suffer overcrowding, and North of that the weather is problematic (winds and rain). We don't know much about the Alentejo coast and are going to investigate it. Do you have any ideas? We are looking for a small coastal community, not too holidayish. Perhaps were looking for an impossible dream. It will be a wrench to move as we have been staying in our present location for over 20 years and have got to know a few families. we both like the beach and coast. I have a little boat for fishing. Although we have no garden where we are, Janne would like a small garden area. If possible we would like to be in walking distance from the beach. A few local shops would be good. Tim. Simkins

  26. I Love watching Location, Location, and Relocation. Now I cannot find the shows on television as of Oct.~Canada1,2008. The two shows were on HGTV- SW Ontario Canada.(Rogers Cable) I find Kirsty and Phil positively the best at what they do, and their subtle humor is bar to none. As I was born and raised in the UK. I love to see the places I was familiar with while I was young, and living there. Please help me find them again, and if they are still doing the two shows. Thank You, J. McKay ~SW Ontario Canada

  27. I am writing from Canada & we get episodes of Location Location, as well as Relocation Relocation over here. I know that they are at least 1 to 2 years old, but I am wondering if you can tell me when Kirstie had her baby & what she had. Thank you very much in advance Edwina White P.S. We also love to watch her sister in Unsellables from my home town of Toronto.

  28. As another watcher from the former colonies (an australian living in canada), I too enjoy the show. Congrats, kirstie, on your recent bundle of joy! having two of them may slow your travels around the UK! I must say in comparison to similar local (US) shows you two seem to have mastered the "presenter/educator" role very well, while providing excellant entertainment. Hope your partnership is long and fruitful.

  30. You 2 are the best. I am from the outskirts of Montreal, Canada & I watch you every chance I get (even the re-runs). I like your approach with people & you are also pretty direct when need be and also you are very funny & down to earth. I wanted to congratulate Kirstie on being a mom and also wanted to know if she and Sophie (The Unsellables) are related. I hope that your show will continue. They have taken it away from 12 to 1PM which upset me a great deal and hope they don't take any more away. Three cheers to you. Sincerely, Eveline.
