Meadow Gate. From Kirstie's Homemade Home

Kirstie Allsopp has nearly finished transforming her run-down country cottage in Devon into a beautiful homemade home, so she turns her attention to the garden, which she wants to make personal, pretty and perfect for entertaining.

Looking for inspiration, Kirstie visits mosaic artist Candace Bahouth's garden. There she gets great tips to guarantee colour all year long, and sees Candace's beautiful shell grotto.

Preparing for a celebratory lunch to thank the people who have helped her, Kirstie checks out Petersham Nurseries: a fantastic example of how to create gardens suitable for entertaining.

Kirstie also spends time with more British craftspeople as she learns to create things that could last for centuries or disappear in an instant: she turns her hand to the wonders of willow weaving; the magic of mosaic; and the fun of cake decorating.

  8. I enjoyed watching this, but Kirstie's idea of a bargain and mine are 2 very different things. Also it's a shame she made her kids bedrooms so 'grown up' they should be fun places, and don't get me started on the shell mirror.....

  12. I LOVED this programme its been my absolute favourite. Kirstie has really inspired me and I do hope she does another such programme soon. My husband loved it too, it was so nice seeing somebody tickled pink by what she had learnt to do each week and the bargains she had found. Maybe there will be a book I do hope so. Thanks Kirstie for a lovely programme and well done.

  13. I was all prepared to scoff at Kirstie's new show in this economic climate - but I was hooked. I found it a lovely self-indulgent distraction and looked forward to it every weeek. Thanks Kirstie.
