The following local partners were integral to making Kevin McCloud And The Big Town Plan a reality of regeneration and reinvigoration.

Castleford Parks Partnership:

The Castleford District Parks Partnership (CDPP) is a grass roots voluntary and not-for-profit community organisation based in Castleford, Wakefield, West Yorkshire. We are endeavouring to make a difference to the lives of ordinary local people through the medium of arts, events, education and forward looking innovative developments within local parks. We aim to use local parks as a tool to inform, enable, enthuse and empower all those who visit our local parks.

Sagar Street Traders Association:

The Sagar Street Traders is an active alliance of small businesses. Our street consists of former residential properties and the former fire station built in the 19th Century and later converted to shop units together with other buildings. As such Sagar Street is part of the town's heritage. Sagar Street forms the key link between the centre of Castleford and the River Aire and as such the Sagar Street Traders are keen to involve our landlords, WMDC and other parties in regeneration work to compliment work being undertaken elsewhere.

Lock Lane Residents Association:

The Association is a campaign set on improving the neglected environment, safety and well-being of residents of Lock Lane. Successes to date including road-calming measures and a new children's play area.

Wilson Street Community Triangle:

The Wilson street community triangle has brought together a group of people who are all hoping to make a difference in our local community. For a long time our area has been overlooked by the council when it comes to spending money in order to enhance the area. Now with the help of Channel4 our community may be able to create things to make this area a better place to live and work in. Grassed areas that are nothing more than dogs toilets can be turned in to areas of beauty for the whole community, and the streets can be designed so that the locals can feel proud of where they live, we can only try.

Friends of the Green:

The Friends is a voluntary community group, formed to secure the sustainable regeneration of "The Green"; a neglected Public Park in Castleford. The group aims to assist the Local Authority and other agencies to give their expertise in providing a clean, safe and well equipped Park for the community. The Green offers opportunities for local schools, early years learning and business to contribute to community health and social well being; by combining play and sport within a natural environment. Local people want the Park to be a statement of who they are.

Cutsyke Community Group:

The Group was set up in February 2000 to regenerate Cutsyke. The Group has worked closely with Wakefield Council to upgrade heating and housing in the area and made links with local Councillors, the police, local schools and the Methodist Church. The Group has a drop-in centre where it holds computer classes, Internet classes, arts and crafts and, coming soon, cookery classes in healthy eating. Support for the drop-in centre came from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust.
