Radio DJ Vicky Richardson is hot on music but not even lukewarm on housework. Over the years her bedroom has disappeared under a mountain of vinyl and the mice regard her filthy kitchen as the perfect playground.
Britain's cleaning queens Kim Woodburn and Aggie Mackenzie have to take this grime offender back to school for the basics of domestic management. It's a steep learning curve, Vicky is introduced to the cleaning products aisle of her local supermarket and gets a masterclass in the essentials of proper hand washing.
With all excuses and ailments brushed aside - 'if you can use a bowling ball you can make a bed', Vicky is put through her paces to reclaim her home.
Pest control thinks she has one of the worst mice infestations they've ever seen, the germ-count tops the charts. Now approaching her 50th birthday and with the support of her good friends, Vicky, sets out to change her life. There are a few tears as Vicky tries to break the habits of a lifetime, hoping to graduate with honours from Kim and Aggie's Cleaning Academy.
