Meet Janet from Birkenhead, a 54 year old admin clerk and part time house sitter. She’s great at keeping other people’s houses clean, but her own home is a very different story. Her handsome 1930s pad is way down on its luck.

She's lived here since she was just eight years old, but while brothers and sisters came and went, Janet remained with her parents. Her mum passed away several years ago, so now there's just Janet and her 94 year old dad, Wilf, left in the family home.

Janet’s shopaholic tendencies mean she and Wilf are hemmed in by her consumer madness. In Janet's words, 'you name it, I buy it.' Most of her buys come from the home shopping channels, and most sit in their packaging, unused and unloved.

Friends Ann and Derek say that the home used to be a hive of social activity, but now Janet's too ashamed to invite people around. They've decided to put out a plea to Kim and Aggie, in the hope they can bring the good old days back to this tired family home.

It certainly won't be easy - in some rooms, the doors hardly open, and there are brand new, boxed products everywhere. Even Wilf's bedroom has become a graveyard of unused electricals.
