Kevin says: 'I designed this for the lighting company I used to run. It's now out of production and was never a great commercial success but I'm still in love with its body-curves. There are four in my living room which I treasure.'

  2. Congratulations on Grand Tour series. A well desiged programme, truly for grown-ups. Sometimes sorry to see that you are obliged to sound admiring about some "grand designs" that start well but end up looking all the same, open plan, kitchens in the middle, glass walls everywhere. Would love to see some more done abroad. Admire your fluency in French and Italian. Got quite a crush on you, actually.

  3. I'm from Australia, and I just love Grand Designs, I think Kevin is a wonderful presenter, just listening to him speak,(makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up) you can tell he loves and enjoys what he does. I love his lay back attitude, it's so natural and honest, A man really comfortable in his own skin. and he's very easy on the eyes. Well done Kevin..keep the programs coming.

  6. When does the clothes make the man. I know Kevin is fine doing his show as is. Who says that you have to dress up in a three peice suit to get dirty. Its not just middleclass and upperclass that watch grand design.

  8. When I saw Kevin McLoud in the opening sequence of Grand Designs this week my jaw dropped. Honestly, if there was a Bafta for "SCRUFFIEST presenter" he would have won it hands down for the last eight/nine years. Or if there was an award for "SCRUFFIEST" person on TV he would have won that too. Hands down. But this week he really took the biscuit. I don't think I have EVER seen anybody on televion-and I mean any body-look as dishevelled and unkempt as him. And I have been watching television since the Coronation in 1953. Surely Channel 4 you can't allow this sort of thing to happen. He probably gets paid enough to buy a decent pair of trousers-not jeans-and a shirt. I am disgusted at his appearance. What sort of example is that send out. "It's really cool to be SCRUFFY" I don't think so. Tell him off, and get him to smarten himself up. From an avid viewer of Grand Designs-for now anyway. 9. Come to Australia, please. We are interested in energy saving and GOING GREEN. HEALTHY HOUSES. Those I have seen on your programs on our Oz television built in U.K. do not consider this. They are energy gusslers and need a lot of glass. Who cleans it all? We keep our stuff inside but live outside a lot more than Europeans. We love your programs. Why don't those squeezed in town houses in O.K. make outside use of a flat roof?

  10. Well Im surprised with this being in Kevins top 5, I always agree wit everything he says and always seem to say it just as he is saying it, but obviousley not as with intense descriptives. I have just finished studyying furniture design, and feel this is very similiar to something a first year student would present and think was wonderful. I can't believe a man of amazing sense of perfection would have this in his home, but then again we can all like somthing we design but no one else can see its beauty.

  11. The Grand Design Programe is very inspiring and I was wondering if Kevin McLoud would like to help a charity that works with children who have learning difficulties by teaching them various sporting skills. At the present they work in a building which has no hot water or proper heating and does not have all the proper facilities they would like. A charity run by some millionaires was prepared to help them and designed a beautiful sustainable building and even some land. Unfortunately the council have just turned down planning permission. I was wondering if anything could be done as the directors of the academy say they will have to shut down the academy if new premises are not found and a build started within two years.

  12. Three properties, the recent High Tech house, the house built of old car tyres, and the castle with heat pump under floor heating, from pipe's laid in a nearby field.........All these are full scale working models of an energy saving system or idea. ...These details of the technical performance of these systems would make a very interesting programme as a part of the Grand designs project and are much too valuable to be bypassed as incidental in the overall scheme............Please make a special programme of the technicality's for my and others benefit.................Cheers Bernard Fellerman

  14. Kevin, my wife and I enjoy your program of Grand Designs. There is one problem, why does your expensive houses have no garages. In Australia, most homes have two garages A very good program regards Ted Palmer
