9. We just wanted to say that this was by far the best grand design programme that has been shown and that we were transfixed by the fantastic renovation of this castle. It takes exceptional vision and drive to create such a wonderful end result despite all the obstacles thrown at Francis and Karen. This is as much of a work of art as any acclaimed piece in any gallery and they should take pride in their accomplishment. Good luck to their bed and breakfast business they thoroughly deserve to make it a huge success - who wouldn't want to stay there!

11. Best Grand Design ever - well done to Francis and Karen for not giving up. With so many obstacles stacked against them from the start, many lesser men would have not even understaken such a project, so congratulations on a magnificient achievement and great too that many can benefit from the efforts of this couple. I hope that English Heritage will learn from this experience and be a bit more helpful and lenient for future projects.

We agree the castle in Yorkshire is simply stunning and Karen and Francis have created a beautiful building and home, as well as preserving part of Englands heritage. 46. This is a truly inspirational story. I will be charitable and say that, at long last English Heritage saw sense and there is now another fascinating building to visit and admire where, but for two brave and visionary people there would havebeen a pile of stones.My wife and I would dearly love to pay a visit, but can find no contact point. We would be grateful for any such information, when we could pass on our heartfelt congratulations first hand.

47. What a visionary and courageous couple to take on such a worthwhile project. They deserved to have been given some financial support rather than all that grief from English Heritage!! We fully intend to find this magnificant "B&B" and spend a couple of nights as paying guests!
