  1. Im sick and tired of the beardy brigade of this world insisting we have a climate problem when there are as many scientists who say there isnt one as there are who say there is. These people are just jealous of those with money who can afford to build something like this. Keep your "earth ships" and your tie dye clothes and your vegetablist ways if you like, but understand that just as you have choice to live in the medieval ages, others are just as entitled to live in this century wit nice things and modern builds. Dont ram your views down everyone elses throats please.

  2. Waterloo - Violin Factory. Just wondering what was the final outcome of the bricks on the parapet wall. Did they have to knock it down and rebuild it?

  3. Have just watched this programme, and for me having spent all that wasted money on a building that has ended up just looking like a factory or warehouse with strange furniture. There is no warmth or cosyness about their design. Too much open wasted space. Terrible.

  4. After watching this build last night I can't help feeling how obscene it is. Apart from the amount of money spent (and overspent) on it there seems to be no concession at all to the environmental issues this world is facing. We're building an earthship in southern Spain. After watching this programme I feel that our efforts to live gently with the environment are all for nothing. If planners continue to give permission, and indeed people continue to want, to build monstrocities such as this then what hope does the world have? I hate to think how much energy has been wasted in the production of the materials to build and furnish a house that, after all, is for just 2 people to live in. Let alone the amount of energy it must take to run. Please, Grand Designs, please give air time to more deserving and inspiring projects.

  5. We've just seen this for second time in NZ, together with a brief "revisited" end section. They were able to satisfy the planners, eventually, by colouring the brick to make it look old. However this didn't satisfy the neighbours who battled on with their objections. Didn't seem it was likely to get them anywhere..... left a bad taste all round.

  6. What a wonderful house but it was hard to find anything likeable about this entitled couple.

  7. Have just seen this program in Australia. It is October 2008 and I can't find out whether in fact they did have to dismantle the party wall- do you know. Would very much apperciate it if I could tie up the loose ends of the story!
