3. I was so sad to learn that Howard had died. I can remember being captivated by his enthusiasm to rebuild the castle in the first program, and how much effort he expended moving tons of original stones. It was because of people like Howard and Anna that I dreamt of doing something similar in Italy - a country that I have loved for years. My dream started last November with the purchase of a country property in the hills in the Lunigiana area of northern Tuscany. I have managed to get hold of an old farmhouse with some walls dating back to the 13th century. At the moment I am awaiting plans being drawn up by a local geometra and hope to start restoration work this year. Eventually, when my wife and I retire, we will live in our Italian retreat. 4. Sadly Howard has died and in the autumn of 2008 the castle was up for sale. Such a tragic ending to a magical triumph.
