Kevin McCloud. Les Gets: The Alpine Chalet

'Halfway through the renovation I was concerned for Nicky and James as the untouched ancient soul of the house that they fell in love with and wanted so much to retain was not what they were getting'.

'The carpenter M. Bastard didn't seem to understand what Nicky wanted to achieve. But, once Nicky's visits increased and when she moved to France to project manage full-time, he and all the workmen pulled it around, creating a stunning home that looks like something from a James Bond film set'.

'The attention to detail is here in spades and the old wood and new comforts complement each other perfectly. Light pours in through the window and you can drink in the amazing views. What Nicky, and James, have created is a luxurious, glamorous Alpine home whose simplicity is utterly charming'.

  7. what was the name of the plaster blocks that were pieced together and slightly away from the wall to add natural thermal insulation. I am trying to finish a city and guilds project and these looked like something I could research. How new are they? The show said they were contemporary.
