Such a wonderful house! Simple but elegant on the outside and breathtaking on the inside. I fell in love with the kitchen but what was the name of the benchtops? Silicat something? Great looking anyway, matching the star-alike lamps in the ceiling! Greetings to the family from Sweden! :)
Loved the house - wooden floor had a bit too much contrast in it though. Like Nicky on the 22/4 I wouldn't mind knowing about the mystery illness that Jim suffred from - sounds as though it was stress related. Hope my multiple sclerosis would clear as quickly when my new self-build house is completed - I won't hold my breath for that... I'm not sure if the added stress of being in the 'grand design' programme would have helped. Wishing them all the best in that beautiful tranquil setting. Nothing to beat the view of water.
Jim and Simone can feel very proud of their new home.I have watched every episode of Grand Designs but I must say that the Loch house is by far the one that fits perfectly with its landscape. The house is beautiful both inside and out and my feelings are that this particular location was waiting for this house to make it complete.I wish the happy family well in their new home and in particular Jim who I now hope has found peace.
Could you tell me where or which furniture shop Jim and Simone got their corner white leather sofa from- in the shop it seemed to change shape?Thank you. Love the programme- so inspiring!

How was such a monstrosity allowed to be built in such a beautiful place? And those stairs do not comply with current Building Regulation. Get real kevin this is not ground breaking architecture it is just a large ego trip by people who do not understand what architecture is.

We watched this program all the way through and are still waiting to find out what illness Jim was suffering from.....that miraculously got better as soon as the house was built! Just found it a bit odd that the program rode upon the mystery illness that Jimm suffered from and that channel 4 thought best to keep from us...the mere viewer! Can anyone shed any light???????
We watched this episode two nights ago, and well done to Jim & Simone for building such a fantastic house in a beautiful location. I could not find one fault in their design outside, & interior. I hope they & their children have many wonderful happy years in their dream home.
Here in Australia, our 'sunburnt country', I watched this episode with awe and did not move from my seat until it was over. The afinity of this home with the water instills confidence that here in dry old Oz we can build our dream home and incorporate water. Water is usually seen as beach/river/waterfront homes. The Loch gives a new perspective. We could plan something similar with a dam over here. The dream continues.
