5. My Husband & I are setting out on what we hope will be a journey to our Dream Log home. At the moment we are researching the different companies that are around & trying to compare what they offer. We don't intend to start looking for land & finalising designs etc for a couple of years yet but wondered what company was used for the Finnish log cabin and how the price for the Kit compared to the final build price ..not couinting the cost of the land.

6. I quickly became fascinated by this build. The great functionality of the design and wonderful use of natural materials captivates our imagination. It seems a very cost effective option. I only wonder about the expense to ship the kit to New Zealand. Many thanks.

11. We also saw, loved, the program and house,and hoped to recall the name of the company in Finland for our records just in case . . . . Having owned and restored a log cabin in the U.S. - IMPORTANT TO ALWAYS KNOW THE WOOD BEING USED IN STRUCTURE IN AND OUT, AND BE SURE TO USE PROTECTIVE COVER ON ITS EXTERIOR, WITH PIGMENT IF NECESSARY, ESPECIALLY WHERE FACING STRONG OR LONG SUN!- this show was of interest. If you like the warm feeling wood can give, you cannot beat a well (emphasis on 'well') designed and built log cabin. We love where we live now, but both miss that very special feeling we had where we lived in Northern New York. On another note, we live in Denmark now and are a bit surprised at how the building codes in the UK seem lax in most cases with respect to requiring thermal efficiency etc. We just rehabbed two connected old buildings (one made before 1900 with recycled materials! and then having suffered a fire) and were required to have 25 cm of insulation. The Danish gov't now requires 30cm as a minimum! Kevin, we love your grand design homes and have loved feeling that we're not alone in our self-project management experience . . . well, perhaps in the aspect of one of us not being able to speak the language when the project started! Since many may see your shows before embarking on their dream home adventures, I am certain you've done a lot of good as well as having provided real entertainment to those of us 'with a thing' for restoration and design of homes!
