  3. CONFUSED.COM This build (Hereford Cottage)by far is my favourite and something that i have craved to have for years... So when the build came to 130k i was astonished at how cheap it came to.... the plot cost them 55k but the build cost them around 65k???? My confusion lies with that boarder oak design who constructed the whole thing, clearly states that for a pearmain cottage it should stand at 147k just for the build?? so where the 130k comes from for the whole project i have no idea... Please help? Regards Jamie

  7. First, How big is the whole plot? Secondly, How on earth could you pay so little for a prime building plot in the middle of a beautiful village?

  8. According to the programme the oak was going to be finsihed with an oil that did not darken the oak. I have looked through the list of products used, but I cannot see which oil was used - which is a shame as I am searching for just such a product at the moment for our own oak framed self build. Any idea what it was?

  19. I was so impressed with this oak timber frame design. As a first time buyer with the money ready, even without a mortgage, I have been struggling to find a suitable house / flat that I would wish to live in. This got me right in the stomach and now I know what I would like to live in. Can you pass on my congratulations to the architect and ask him if he would be interested in doing a similar job for me. Yours faithfully, Mark

  25. I thought this house its design, construction, and build and cost management was excellent showing what can be done with only, in these days, a modest amount of cash.another plus was the amount of local labour and craftsmanship employed. However I would like to know what the oil was that she intended using on the external oak.
