2. No insulation in the walls??, huge windows and by spitting the levels with an air gap thereby increasing the surface area exposed to the outside is certainly not eco building. The heat loss must be huge.

4. All that wood on the walls would bother me. What happens in a few years when they want to move a few pictures or, worse, wall-hung items? Or they sell the place and someone else moves in? There will be patches of pale wood and screw holes, and they won't simply be able to fill and redecorate. I do like it though!

5. Hi Kirk Re the U-value of the glazing I do not see how the heating element contributes to this. The U-value of construction relates only to the passive thermal properties. Once you whack heating into the mix you are using energy and producing CO2 - if not at the house itself, at a lower station. Heating and insulation are two different things.

6. Can someone explain to me how the u-values for the windows are better than the u-values for the walls. The best u-values I've come across for triple glazed windows are 0.7W/m2K. if this is the case for these windows, then the walls would fail building regulations, where under Part L1A 2006, minimum indicative backstop u-values for walls are 0.35W/m2K.
