Interior Mini Design, Chesterfield: The Water Works

'The industrial look of this home was a brave design choice, motivated partly by budget and partly by a dream of spacious loft living. '

'I have to take my hat off to Chris and Leanne - they've become builders, architects and interior designers.'

'I admire the light-handedness of their conversion: the additions and changes, which use modern materials, are all reversible. And they have diligently repaired the original building, restoring its fabric and paying homage to its history as a water-works.'

  1. Where would it be best to start looking for a building, such as a the Water Treatment Station, Electical Station and other convertable buildings in the UK.

  2. Although this article shows that it was posted in 2008, I'm pretty sure this conversion was actually done several years ago, as I'm sure I saw the episode? It would be nice just from the point of view of prices and so on when these designs actually took place. Or at the very least, when the programes first aired. Can you buy an old waterworks for 40k now, for example, I doubt it.

  7. I think this was my favourite ever grand designs. I couldnt believe how much work they both undertook, I think they deserve a medal. I also loved the fact they used a mini as a desk. That idea was just classic!!
