Rich: What skills and qualities did you see in Linzie, your assistant, that you felt would be well-suited to working on a remote vineyard?
Monty: None – but she said she wanted to change her life after a divorce and so was a good potential pupil for me. If wine and the French lifestyle got her life back on track, that’s a result as far as I am concerned.
Rich: Will she be sticking around for later episodes?
Monty: She sticks around, almost gets fired, bounces back but ultimately accepts that the rural life isn’t for her as an out-and-out city girl. So at least she is brave enough to admit it – and thus got something positive from Chateau Monty.
You can catch Chateau Monty on Thursday evenings, 8pm, on Channel 4.
