Rich: What advice would you have for fellow Brits that want to quit the rat race for a perceived more laid-back lifestyle overseas?
Monty: Boring, predictable advice really: do your research, learn the lingo, don’t dive in, and accept once you have made the jump you ain’t never coming back.
Rich: And how about advice for those amongst us who want to set up a foreign business?
Monty: Get a good lawyer and an even better accountant – and ask the advice of experts. I know millionaire businessmen who have lost their shorts on small vineyard projects. They bought the vines, the tractor, the winery, the vats, the barrels, the bottling machine – but ran out of money as the wine they make is not styled to what consumers wanted, so no sale, no cashflow. Wine is a business. It’s not a dream.
