Rich: What’s next for Chateau Monty?
Next on the agenda for me is livestock - a cow can live off two acres but can fertilise four! It's a natural way of doing things. To do that I need to start selling more wine for more profit but I’d love to transform my vineyard into a farm. It's the long-term goal and having animals is bags of fun.
I still don't think I’d buy a farm - I’d only buy a farm to set it up as a student farm where people could come to get practical advice and actually get out in the fields to experience the natural way of growing food. I think my strengths lie in using nature to my advantage and proving that the form of farming that has become the norm isn’t sustainable for the future.
