In a bid to make a good impression with the locals, Linzie has started French lessons. Her teacher, Veronica, another ex-pat, has lived here for five years. She also knows everything that goes on.
Linzie: ‘Obviously not knowing a lot what the villagers say, what’s their thoughts on what Monty’s doing with his project? Are they saying much?’
Veronica: ‘Well they’re, they’re slightly puzzled, slightly amused – they think he's just another mad English! And the idea that this Englishman has just come from nowhere to grow his biodynamic grapes, they think perhaps it’s probably totally barmy.’
