Julie and Iggy Beaumont live in Aston-under-Lyne in Greater Manchester, and the pair have £90,000 to spend. Iggy recently left the army and received a substantial pay-off, but they've been saving too. They're looking for a seaside holiday home in either Pembrokeshire or Portugal.
If they buy in Portugal, the couple can’t go above £90,000, because they don't want to take on a mortgage if they buy overseas. In Pembrokeshire, however, they would have to take on some debt - seafront properties in this southern Welsh county are already £150,000 or more - but the property must be a realistic rentals earner in return.
Julie wants to let rip and spend £200,000 in Pembrokeshire but Iggy wants to cut that down to £90,000 and spend his carefully hoarded loot in Portugal.
