4. Information On West Dorset (Image 4 of 11)
Picturesque West Dorset covers 420 square miles, 53% of which is dedicated as an area of outstanding natural beauty. The stunning coastline is the UK's only Unesco-accredited Natural World Heritage Site, placing the cliffs and bays in the company of the Great Barrier Reef and the Grand Canyon.
Tourism ploughs £210million into West Dorset each year, as visitors flock to immerse themselves in the beauty of the coastline and the area's remarkable 7,500 listed buildings.
In 2006 West Dorset was named 10th Best Place To Live by Phil Spencer and Kirstie Allsopp's Best & Worst Places To Live. Despite dropping out of the top 20 in the 2007 list, West Dorset remains highly desirable due to low crime rates, good schools and above average life expectancy.
