This fun card can be made from scraps of card and fabric. Perfect as a project for kids, adults will enjoy creating unique gifts for friends and family, too.
Scraps of fabrics
Stiff card
Fabric glue
Buttons
This project is designed for kids to do and the finished cards needn't be overly neat. Younger ones might need help with scissors and cutting. Adult beginners will tackle these easily!
If you can use scraps you already have at home, this card can be made for free. Otherwise, you can buy enough card and fabric for under £5 to make five or six cards.
Allow at least half an hour to make your first card.
Fold a piece of thin cardboard in half, to make a card. Then lay the folded card onto a piece of thin paper and draw around it.
Draw a half circle for a cat's body on the paper. Then, add its head and ears. Draw thin legs and a simple curling tail, too.
Cut out the shape for the cat's head and lay it on a piece of plain material. Hold the paper and draw around it carefully. Cut out the shape.
Cut out the shape for the body, then draw around it on some patterned material and cut it out. Do the same for the legs, ears and tail.
Glue a piece of ribbon or a strip of material along the bottom of the card. Then, put the shapes of the cat together and glue them on.
Cut a strip of material for the stripe on the cat's face and glue it on. Then, either glue on thread for whiskers and a nose or sew them.
Glue on buttons or sequins for eyes. Then, glue another piece of ribbon and more buttons along the bottom of the card.
