Beginner. It really doesn't matter if these cards and giftwrap bags are a little untidy - if the kids are involved, they're bound to be, but it's all part of the charm.
You might have some of the things you'll need for this job in one of your cupboards at home - particularly if you've got kids. If you buy it all from scratch, you're looking at around £3 for the paper, 50p for a pack of around 20 paper bags, £1 for a few bottles of glitter, £1 for glue and £1 for ribbon. So, all in all, you should be able to make about 20 bags or cards for around £5.
You needn't sit down and make 20 of these in one go, but if you do, you could probably easily finish them within an hour and a half - even with the kids 'helping'.
Step One: Prepare Your Materials
Gather together everything you'll need to create your cards and giftwrap on a clean, clear surface. You can choose your own colours and designs, add extra glitter, sequins or whatever you have at home in the cupboard. Ideally, though, stick to three basic colours - this will help you make the design as effective as possible.
Step Two: Create a Template
Practise the shapes you'll have in your design on plain paper or newspaper. Once you're happy, make a template of stiff card. Use this template to draw around on your coloured paper, cut out your shapes (supervising kids if necessary) and add any detailing - such as ears and eyes for the teddy with a felt pen.
Step Three: Create the Card Arrangement
Once you've cut out a few shapes, arrange them on on plain white gift bag or onto a piece of stiff white card, folded in half. Play around with them until you're happy with your arrangement.
Step Four: Glue and Wait
Glue your shapes onto your bags and cards and set them aside to dry.
Step Five: Add Finishing Touches
Once you've completed one set of designs, why not move onto something more ambitious? Don't just stop at gift bags and cards - you can design your own gift tags, too, to create a co-ordinating set. Finish your designs with pretty ribbon, tying the bags at the top carefully. Or, simply fold the top of the bags over, tape them down and hide the tape with a bow.
