Muddy wellies, rotting leaves and grubby hands can make outdoor play areas look a bit sad, so get the bucket out once a year for a quick spring clean.
Once a year: Cleaning climbing frames, swing sets etc takes little more than a splash over with some warm soapy water and a rinse as they are built to be outside all year round. Add some sterilising fluid to the water for extra reassurance if you have young children.
Remove rust: Metal should be rust-free aluminium or treated to prevent rust, but if you do find any rust patches, sand it back using wire wool or sandpaper, then seal the area with a metal primer designed for use outdoors.
Always check manufacturer's instructions first. Always try a test patch first. If you are unsure as to whether the item you are cleaning is suitable for our instructions, take professional cleaning advice first.
