It's best not to dwell on the germs that get washed into the basin every day - just keep on top of the cleaning regime and you'll be fine
Every day: Get in the habit of wiping down the sink down after each use and limescale and grime won't have a chance to build up.
Reaching awkward spots on basins: use an old toothbrush to get to hard-to-reach areas, such as behind taps.
Tackle built up grime with an all-purpose bathroom cleaner - make sure you work it into the base of the taps, overflow and plughole and give the plug and chain (or waste stopper) a go over with the toothbrush, too. Rinse all cleansers off thoroughly with clean water, and if you're feeling energetic, a buff with a paper towel will leave it looking five star.
