Are you having trouble with the finish of your matt paint when overlaying an existing silk finish? If so Channel 4 gives some advice on achieving the right look.
Sadly there is no easy way to laying matt emulsion over silk. The answer is to carefully paint very thin coats. Let each coat dry for a day before starting the next one. Another point to bear in mind is that you may need to paint more than your normal three coats to get an even finish. Yes it makes painting a lot more laborious, but otherwise the paint will crack, flake and peel and then you're back to square one.
