    Architecture Week '07: The Highlights

    It's that time again - Architecture Week is upon us! From 15th-22nd June there's loads going on all over England, but here are just ten highlights that caught the eye of the 4Homes team...

    Five of the Best

    1. Wind to Light
    This project will be thought provoking as well as providing a stunning visual spectacle. Using small wind turbines to power hundreds of LEDs, the idea is that it will create a firefly-like effect. Jason Bruges was commissioned to make this piece by RIBA London and onedotzero, and the man himself will be giving a talk on the project on 21st June at 7pm.

    2. Architect in the House
    Already a firm 4Homes favourite, this project aims to provide people with top architectural advice at the same time as helping the homeless. If you’re planning an extension you can bounce ideas off a RIBA certified architect, leading to better architecture and helping those who need it most. Minimum donations are £40, which is cheap as chips for an hour’s worth of top architectural advice.

    3. Sonic Shed Project
    This project links Yorkshire and London through sound, inviting guests to be whisked away in the shed to another space. The experience will no doubt be surreal, surprising and a whole lot of fun!

    4. Norwich Eco House
    The EcoHouse in Norwich is a one-of-a-kind exhibition aimed at offering practical advice to people eager to save energy and make homes more efficient. This is a great chance to learn more about saving the environment in a fun and interactive way. Each day eco-pledges are added to the EcoHouse and the most original every day wins a prize from Norwich City Council.

    5. Art and design in the Castleford Project
    Our very own Kevin McCloud will be on hand to help MPs David Lammy and Yvette Cooper launch an exhibition of images from the now famous Castleford Project.
