Whatever you use on the exterior of your building, particularly traditional materials, will age with time. When you buy them, ask if the seller has examples of aged materials - or if they know of any local buildings that have used them so that you can see how they've aged. Wood, in particular, fades with time, usually going a more silvery colour, and this is something to bear in mind when choosing other finishes, such as stone or paint. Extension by Carpenter Oak
