Here, the glazing is set back slightly from the edge of the solid walls at either side of the opening into the garden. Equally, the colours on the walls - and floor, for that matter - extend out into the garden from inside. The effect of this is not just to increase shelter and privacy - it also once again cleverly merges the garden and the interior, while the exotic planting outside gives a British garden a Californian feel.
