Last year, black was the big colour for interiors. This year, according to Crown's Trend Panel, the New Darks signal a bold move away from the hard, dull greys and blacks towards a softer, sultry palette that is punctuated by bright, vivid hues. Decadent purples, blues and blacks take centre stage but texture is also a consideration. Patent and lacquered finishes contrast with smoky matt metals and tactile, velvety fabrics. The effect is both dramatic and beautiful. How does it differentiate from the previous look? It's more sophisticated, more pared down and more about texture than accessories. How does it translate?
