* It’s likely that the bigger stores, such as DIY stores and department stores will be offering the best discounts, but always compare to smaller, independent local stores, too.
* Check out the competition online first.
* Once you’ve found the best bargain, ring your nearest store to see if it’s cheaper there rather than online.
* Once in-store, ask for an extra discount – see our tips on haggling.
Looking to get a great discount on garden dining sets, garden benches, barbecues, garden water features, garden hammocks – and even great ideas for garden design? Now is the best time of year to grab yourself a bargain for your garden. Why? Because the shops are clearing their stock for the influx of new, autumn products. So where to go for a great bargain?
The DIY giant B&Q is taking up to 75 per cent off garden dining sets, and up to 50 per cent off barbecues. Many gazebos are also half price, as are barbecues and patio awnings. Wooden gazebos and arbours are also discounted, and the Torquay summerhouse, originally over £500 is now just £379.
There’s an ‘up to half price’ sale on until Tuesday at Argos with big savings on garden dining sets, hammocks, gazebos, steamer chairs and barbecues. This is also a good place to pick up cut price outdoor toys for children, such as trampolines and bouncy castles.
There’s a 10 per cent off deal on today and tomorrow (even off things that have been reduced already) at Homebase – check with your local store what applies, but be sure to grab some good deals off garden furniture.
There’s ‘a reduced to clear sale’ of garden furniture, garden accessories and picnicware at John Lewis. For example, the deck hammock, which was £30, is now just £22.
There’s a sale of garden dining sets at Debenhams – quality there is pretty good, so expect to pay more than you would at a DIY store, but look for particularly good deals on sturdy garden dining chairs and parasols.
