Summerhouse from Green Retreats

Whether your budget is high or low, we have something for you...

Green Retreats

Built using sustainably sourced timber and expected to last 30 years, Green Retreats summerhouses and garden offices have been used by George Clarke on The Home Show. Fully insulated and double-glazed, the 10 year guarantee should provide you with peace of mind.

Eco Friendly Summerhouses

If you really want to reduce the carbon footprint of your room outside, there’s the option of a grass roof. Ecospace, www.Garden2office.co.uk and Garden Affairs and some other suppliers are now offering sedum living roof coverings for the truly green building, at a cost of around £125 per sq metre. Grass roofs can only be installed on shallow pitch angles and bear in mind the membrane and drainage layers make this a heavier option than even slate tiles. However, you will get all year round colour, a wildlife haven and good insulator against temperature variations and noise.

B&Q

B&Q has a large range. The Shack-Up Shed range is designed exclusively by Wayne Hemingway – the Eightbisix and Tridoorbikestore form part of these ranges. Large log cabins, with reception and single room for £5,829.66.

Summerhouse. A Buyer's Guide To Summerhouses

Dunster House

Dunster House offers a wide range of interlocking cabin style summerhouses, starting from around £1,000. The timber is usually 28, 45 or even 70mm thick walls but solid wood still isn’t a good insulator so you will need to add a mineral wool or foam panel inner lining if it’s to be anything more than a summerhouse.

Garden2office.co.uk

If you want to be really eco-friendly, www.Garden2office.co.uk supplies modular structures made from the same wall units as their timber frame homes, all from sustainable materials and with triple glazing. They can be clad with larch, redwood or cedar shingles. These modular Swedish made buildings come with triple glazing and 120mm thick glass wool insulation wall units. Kits from £5,995, installations from £8,000.

Border Oak

Border Oak has a range of timber-frame, barn-style buildings that can be used as offices, summerhouses or even for accommodation. Oak kits for home assembly start from £3,000.

Henley Garden Offices

Henley Garden Offices sells distinctive curved roof design modular buildings in a choice of colours. A 12 sq metre two to four person room from £11,995.

Garden Affairs

Garden Affairs can supply a 1.8m square summerhouse for around £1,291. They also offer larger buildings.

InsideOut Buildings

InsideOut Buildings sells bespoke buildings that can be used as accommodation and can be fitted with a toilet and kitchen. A basic unit starts at around £20,000.

Argos

If you have the space, Argos can supply a five-room log cabin, made from 44mm pine sections for £11,000. It even has its own loft space.

Summer Garden Buildings

Summer Garden Buildings has a massive range of DIY assembly summerhouses, log cabins, offices and gazebos. An 8ft square summerhouse costs from around £900.

Homebase & Wickes

Homebase and Wickes and many independent retailers have large summerhouses with plenty of room for fitting out.

  1. Please can you tell me which company is linked to the white summerhouse with blue shutters shown on page 5?

  2. Can you tell me the supplier of the summerhouse in last night's prgramme? Would I need planning permission? And can I get someone to install it and put electricty in it as I am no DIYer? I have three sons and we currently have what used to be a 'quaint summerhouse' which is rotting away and looks more like the Norman Bates psycho house! I cannot understand why as I have painted in with wood preserver every year. I would like to replace it and an outdoor room for my sons would be great. Also, I have a single garage that is very narrow and I cannot fit my car in it. It is a wasted space and is full of junk. Any ideas what I could do with it?
