Okay so it's that time of year again, time to slap on the sun cream, crack a few tinnies and run inside screaming like small children at the first sign of rain. But assuming Mamma Nature is kind and you've stocked up on burgers, sausages and the vegetarian option down the local cash and carry, now is the time to make sure your equipment is up to the job.

Rotal Barby Dual Fuel BBQ

The Rotal Barby Dual Fuel BBQ was apparently designed by an aircraft engineer and perhaps for the first time adequately deals with the problem of keeping your slabs of dead animal from dripping on the stuff set aside for the grass guzzlers. It also looks very cool.

As the name suggests this little beauty can also be fuelled either by gas or charcoal. The gas unit utilises the power of Infrared with the unique design of Ceramic Burner, resulting in a cooking performance that brings a new dimension to gas barbecuing. There is also no need to deal with any of the mess and bother of replacing any lava rock as this design - with its special louvered "Flavourising Plate" - has eliminated the need for such consumable items. The charcoal consumption is also very economical when compared to other types of barbecues.

Eva Solo Grill

Though uncompromisingly modern this extremely cool eva solo grill works in the same way as a traditional barbecue /grill: you simply put charcoal in the central coal bucket, place the grill lid on top and add the food. When the food has cooled you can close the barbecue by placing the solid matt steel lid on top, and lo and behold it becomes a handy and stylish patio table.

As if that wasn't versatile enough the solid lid can also be used in conjunction with legs to create a totally separate high table/side table.

  1. I would like to buy the Rotal Barby and take a look at the 'Traveller'. I have tried to find a supplier but have yet to find one that still retails the unit. Can anyone help? Thanks Mark

  2. H, I have the 'full zize' Rotal Barby at home and its baby brother 'the traveller' when I'm on the move. I'd love Richard M to get back on this page with info about spares etc if they are still available. The barby range are the best ever bbqs - such a shame consumers make their choices on trendy colours / cost etc rather than solid design and functionality.

  4. I noted your comment about the Rotal Barby Picnic BBQ (Traveller was the correct name: How do I know you ask.....I was the designer and inventor of the Rotal Barby) I will see if I can get hold of some new ash-pans for the Traveller and if possible I will post the details on this page. It is in any case lovely to hear that you held my product in such high regard. Kindest regards Richard

  5. Where can we find a rotal-barby picnic BBQ, ie. a smaller one. We had one but we've used it so much that we've burned the bottom out of it and we're desperately searching for a replacement. It is the best BBQ we've ever used. We've been informed that the guy in Glasgow who was making them had health problems and gave up the business but we find it hard to believe that no-one else has taken up this great design.
