White walls, concrete stairs and a secluded roof terrace are a far cry from your bog-standard family home, but that's exactly what forty-something couple Bruno and Juliette Olivier wanted to get away from.

We might all have dreamed of owning a magnificent loft apartment with amazing views but the reality often ends up being something completely far less exciting. Thoughts of sophisticated cocktail parties on the roof terrace seem like a distant memory as nappies, the school run and homework take over.
Bruno and Juliette Olivier, however, were adamant that just because they had four children, they shouldn't be put off owning something out of the ordinary.

Bruno and Juliette have filled their open-plan living space with finds from antiques markets, such as the chestnut 1920s bar and the old-fashioned bicycle. Bag yourself some similar seating with the Ronda sofa in natural from Habitat and the rustic looking Easy chair at twentytwentyone.
They set out to find a suitable property with plenty of space and scope for improvement. A 1930s suburban apartment building might not have seemed like the obvious choice for this adventurous couple, but it presented interesting possibilities.
'We were lucky to come across an apartment for sale and then discovered the one beneath it was also on the market,' says Juliette. 'Separately, they didn't provide us with enough space for our kids, Lysianne (21), Vanessa (17), Nathalie (16) and Sebastian (8), but we realised that once knocked together we could have a fabulous penthouse-style apartment.'
