With careers as a costume designer (Angel) and a property developer/designer (Robert), perhaps it shouldn't be a surprise that their home is such a visual treat. When talking to them both, it's clear that this abundance of colour and personality is what they believe makes their home such a happy, relaxing place to live. 'I've often tried to create more restrained schemes, but I never seem to manage it,' says Angel. 'Besides, anything even resembling Modernism would be far too stark for us; and with two young children under eight we'd be bound to fail at the first attempt!'

'I love the juxtaposition of this elegant, dainty woman in the portrait with Cleopatra Jones, who's such a 1970s ass-kicking mama!' laughs Angel.
With such a successful development behind them, do they have any advice for would-be house builders? 'Try your best to streamline the design process by making as many decisions as early as possible,' recommends Robert. 'It's such a stressful process that you need to be incredibly organised to stay on top of things. Also, because of work commitments where I had to travel abroad, I just couldn't be on site every day and I'd come back to find very little had been done in my absence. I think we could have saved three months if there had been someone there on a daily basis to make sure things were being done.'
And as for another project, could there be one in the pipeline? 'Absolutely,' affirms Robert. 'Despite all the sleepless nights it was easy to forget all the troubles when we moved in, so it hasn't put us off!' And with this couple's love of colour, you can guarantee that their next project will end up looking just as much fun.
