No, not your personal sweat, but any electricity needed and whether your project will be an ongoing energy-guzzling creation, such as that conservatory, or garden water feature, or fancy lighting. Remember, some projects will not only contribute to climate change but raise your fuel bills too.
There are lots of handy solar-powered devices for water features, and portable solar lights for the garden - and even for the keyhole of your front door. Try these websites for some fun and affordable ideas: www.greenandeasy.co.uk, and www.ethicalsuperstore.com.

Think twice about buying that power tool, or any other gadget. Not because it will use more than its share of electricity - in fact the average drill is used for only 15 minutes in its entire lifetime. That's the point: manufacturing such equipment uses energy and resources, so consider borrowing or hiring what you need, if and when you need it. And will you really regularly use that juicer, bread maker or muffin toaster? (You'll cut down on clutter too).
It's common sense really but if you have, or want, a conservatory, don't heat it as the glass means it's a great uninsulated energy escape route.
