To create this display:
The magic of this design is the contrast of the green leaves and shiny red berries with the blue of the container, but you can use any low bowl - this one is 13cm in diameter. Half fill the bowl with water. Cut the stems of berries - we've used Skimmia japonica - short and mass in the bowl. Change the water every other day and cut a small amount off the length of each stem to make your design last and last. If you're going to grow Skimmia in the garden, buy a shrub that is both male and female (such as Skimmia japonica subsp. reevesiana) so that you get both flowers and berries at the same time.
