
In the corner of his tiny dining room, James built a compact tv console and mac mini desk. It does everything a workstation needs to, yet when closed, almost disappears into the wall. He used a Faktum wall cabinet with an Abstrakt door, both reduced in size, but still big enough to house the keyboard and all the cables.

Michael Musser turned a Bonde bookcase on its side to create a neat sideboard. After looking at Ikea's own Bonde sideboard and discovering it was out of his price range, Michael bought the bookcase with glass door for a fraction of the price, turned it on its side, added legs from an old coffee table and voila! He's planning to add some spotlights inside, too.

The trick to using Ikea furniture in your home is to make it look like it might not really be from Ikea, but is a hot designer buy instead... Taking a plain Expedit bookcase, Yvonne Eijkenduijn gave it a retro (and unique) twist by wallpapering the back. Time taken? About an hour or so...

Longing for a media centre that was long, linear and floating on the wall, Susan Serra used three sets of Stolmen drawers, and a dark wood countertop left over from a previous project, to create this sexy storage unit. It's supported with angle brackets on the inside, attached to studs in the wall.
