Second Nature Pull Out Larder Unit. Design A Small Kitchen

Does It Pull Out, Lift Up Or Extend?

Look out too for pull out ironing boards – available everywhere - and pull-out tables from Wickes and B&Q. Don’t forget the bin - Homebase’s triple recycling bin fits neatly under a sink unit. In an existing kitchen, you can add an extra shelf within a wall unit or in an under-sink cupboard to double the storage space. Find them at Lakeland.

Find The Right Appliances

Flashy, streamlined and efficient, the latest built in appliances are too cool for their own good. Built-in ovens needn’t be big. Look at Electrolux’s slick range of compact 38cm high ovens with steam, grill, or microwave.

Hobs come in single row designs, or domino designs which consist of separate units, so you can just order the ones you need. Induction hobs are popular, or look out for gas on glass – a gleaming easy-clean option.

dishwasher-electrolux-in-drawer. How To Plan A Small Kitchen

Double up on appliances if you can. Opt for a washer dryer instead of washing machine and tumble dryer, a combi microwave oven, or try Candy’s trio of dishwasher, hob and oven, all in one appliance.

Narrow appliances are easy to track down. Bosch, Indesit and John Lewis offer 45cm wide dishwashers, and freestanding cookers from Indesit and Tricity come in 50cm wide models, find them at John Lewis. For under counter fridges and fridge freezers narrower than 60cm, try Bosch’s Classixx, or Zanussi. Go online at Currys, type in the width of appliance you’re after and it’ll come up with a match. For easy access, consider fridge drawers – they’re easier to get to in a narrow space.

  1. Hi, If it's a gas hob then it's not a good idea as opening the window will continually affect the burners so make sure it's electric. But with electric make sure you don't have excess fabric i.e curtain/netting or voille A gust of wing from an open window can blow onto a hot hob below. I had a fire in the kitchen as a result of the above!
